It’s time to say goodbye…

Hi guys,
the last days and weeks were so amazing and I have really enjoyed to spend the time at Belfast with so great people like Kevin R. But now, it’s time to say goodbye @ all! Well, I don’t really want to say this one…^^ I owe so much people a debt of gratitude, but the greatest thanks goes to Kevin Robinson, my supervisor and mentor for my internship in Belfast. He is great guy and I hope my project partner for the last days at Volunteer Now will have a great experience at Belfast. He come from Spain and he is doing the same intership like us, but he will stay a little bit longer in Belfast (twelve weeks). Of course, we did some great things on the last days and I was invited on friday one week ago to a little boat trip which was the celebration week for some great volunteers and I was in a nice pub with Kevin where I have watched the football match between Spain and Irland and spent the last time together… I still will miss this great time!

Solving the last problems on my volnow projects and enjoy the last days…

Hi everybody,
it’s not so much happened at the late afternoon after any working day on this week, so hasn’t so much to tell about any event. I only still working on my last project while solving the last problems and bugs at Volunteer Now, but my supervisor got a new dog which he brought on monday to the office and the most of us looked and talked about the new dog…^^ While Kevin used his free days to breed his dog, I used the days to work on my community projects where one of them is based on ASP.Net. But I still have to wait for Kevin, because I had some problems where I had to ask him. Now, I look hopefully forward to the last days of this week, because Kevin have invited me and Diego to watch the football game between Spain and the Republic of Irland and on friday I will spend the last time with Kevin at his home before I have to pack my suitcases to depart Irland on sunday. Well, I have really enjoyed this spending time at Belfast and to get a new contacts like Kevin.

Lisburn Leisure Park

Water pools and waterslides...
Water pools and waterslides...

Yesterday was a relaxed day, too. Well, I have found a nice place where we can spend the time on sunday, but this I have already told you and it was nice. Maybe, we have slightly increased expectations, because the water leisure pool looks on the pictures bigger than the real look, but I think we are accustomed to bigger and more spectacular water parks from Germany. However, we have enjoyed this wet experience. Unfortunataly, there were to many kids on this day where we can’t really relaxed in the pool and have some fun waterslides, it was still too small for those many visitors. After all, we have a little hightlight in our favourite pub the morning star and enjoyed the football match between Spain and Italy. We have ordered some steaks which are looked very nice and they were very delicious, so we have ended this day with a great meal and now we watch the last football match at the evening.

A relaxed long weekend…

Hey guys,
this long weekend is not so much happened what I can tell about it, but maybe about next weekend I could tell something, because we want to go to the Lisburn Leisure Park with Irlands biggest leisure water park and with a nice cinema for looking the new film MiB3. For all that, at my work I have developed some new webparts and new toolparts for our Sharepoint Server, in addition to them I have installed and configured a new virtualized developing server with all important tools which extend our developing infrastructure with more mobility and independency for our developing team. Well, I look forward to next days until we fly back to Germany and I enjoy my last complete weekend at Northern Irland.

Let us have a nice long weekend…!

Hey guys,
our last two weeks have been started and we have just two weekends for some nice adventures. Well, my week was pretty nice where I met a new guy at Volunteer Now. He come from Spain and is working as developer, too. He work with me and Kevin together on the same projects and hope, it will be a nice end of our internship. But I still working on the same project and develope the Visual Webparts for our Sharepoint Server and it will be never boring with this team where it’s sometimes funny with those irish people… ^^ This long weekend, I will go with Kevin to the cinema to watch the new film „MiB3“, but at first we go to some other sights or events. Well, I think it will be very funny and it’s nice to see same other sights outside of belfast. Let us what will be happened on this long weekend… 🙂

New Week @ VolunteerNow

Hi everybody,
one of our last weeks at Belfast are been started, but it was not so much happened in the first days of this week. Well, we just went back to our old stuff of project and it’s only some new tasks for my Sharepoint project. My new tast is to design the new layout of the Sharepoint website with new webparts. This will be happened by Visual Webparts in Visual Studio 2010, so it will be programmed in C# and the .NET Framework 3.5, but I am looking very interesting forward to the next week, because we will get a new member for our team, it’s a apprentice, too. He coming from Spain and he has the same certificate like us, he succeded the CCNA certification, too. Therefore, I think that’s will be very interesting and I will get a nice chance to contact a new guy. However, I am hopefully looking forward to a successfull ending of our practical training.

Yours faithfully,
Rico Meehs

Whatever… I just called „The Titanic Museum“…

Last sunday was a nice day to go to the Titanic Museum. We have booked our tickets online and started at 1.20 pm with a nice lunch before…^^ So, we have fetched our tickets from the museum and went in them at 1.40 pm. Well, it was nice to see how the history of Belfast has changed the industry in Belfast. We have saw a lot of history facts about Belfast which was shown with a great variety. One of them was a nice documentary shown which was like a little cinema and you had the possibilty to discover all items which were founded at this discovery. While I walked through the labyrinth of the history, I have lost my roommates…^^ …only Marco and me were left over. After we arrived the end of this museum, we got very hungry and went at home, but we did a stop at our favourite cinema and found a nice location with so very tasty pizzas. Well, the price was bearable and I would recommend this nice location. It’s the Pizza Hut at the Odyssey Cinema with nice service. Well, we have took again some nice pictures, but this once I will post only the link to the complete list by way of variety. Here we go!

Enjoy the Saturday… Chill out @ Botanic Gardens

Yeah, the saturday was pretty nice and it was almost funny like every week in Belfast. We were walked to the Botanic Gardens with my roommates and with a lot of sunshine, but it was sometimes too much, because we went through some glasshouses and it was very hot with so damp air. When we reached the exit to go outside from one of this glasshouse, the air around us feel like so cold, but it wasn’t cold, it was only the great difference between those temperatures. However it was pretty nice and there were so much people, it was like a open-air swimming pool in Germany, but there wasn’t any kind of this one. That was so crazy, but pretty cool. Well, we have decided to chill out a little bit in this park and took some pictures. „Enjoy the Saturday… Chill out @ Botanic Gardens“ weiterlesen

The fifth week will be ended, but what coming at last weeks? It will be seen.

Hi guys,
it’s me again, our fifth week will be end and it was a really nice one, of course the weather had a good timing to be a beautyfull sunny week. At the last three days of the working week, it was very relaxed and have a nice introducing by Kevin in the programming languages ASP.NET & C# for developing webpages, because I want to use this languages for developing project in my community, too. At the beginning of this week, it was something happend in my project at my work, of course there was a some upgrading problemes on Microsoft Dynamics Server, but I have solved this problemes with manually upgrade steps and now I working for the last steps to finish this project. Well, the week was really funny and interesting. At last one, I have got new contacts at Volunteer Now which I like to hold above this nice work placement at Belfast. By the way, I think you have enjoyed this week, too.

Three days… Two films… One Project… But a lot of sunshine!!!

Hey guys,

it’s always funny to how the weather can be changed in irland. Now, it’s a lot of sunshine like the first few days of summer in Germany. We have watched to additional films in our favourite cinema: „The dictator“ and „Safe“. „The dictator“ was very funny and I would recommend this one, but I didn’t like to recommend the other one, because I my opinion, the scenes was switched to fast sometimes and there are to much story scenes with very few action. I think that’s very unusual for an actor like Jason Statham. Well, I enjoy the first sunshine days of this week and my projects at Volunteer Now works very fine, but I had the first setback on tuesday, because I wanted to use MS Dynamics SDK, but the current version of this SDK wasn’t compatible with the MS Dynamics 4.0 CRM Server. Therefore, I was frustrated that Microsoft doesn’t keep his own standards and the migration was successed from the 4.0 version to the 2011 (5.0) version, but the import of the old organisation site was failed, because there was to many changes. So, I had to create all changes from the previous one, but I have finished this one and now, I can begin to develop some webresources with the new SDK and a new Framework. Well, it’s very interest, but it’s a little bit more difficult to work on project which used a more closed application than an opensource project. I think, it will be a nice challenge and I can get more experience by using Microsoft SDK’s. So, I look hopefully in the following days of this week and I wish everyone a nice week, too.
