Bad idea! Now the shit hit the fan. My new task is to set up a testing environment for <em>Cisco Smart Install<\/em>. To do this I got a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/en\/US\/prod\/collateral\/switches\/ps5718\/ps5023\/product_data_sheet0900aecd80371991.html\">Cisco Catalyst 3750G<\/a> L3 switch as well as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/en\/US\/prod\/collateral\/switches\/ps5718\/ps6406\/product_data_sheet0900aecd80322c0c.html\">Cisco Catalyst 2960<\/a>:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_636\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-636\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/files\/2012\/05\/CIMG3904_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/files\/2012\/05\/CIMG3904_web.jpg\" alt=\"my new toys\" title=\"CIMG3904_web\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"size-full wp-image-636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/files\/2012\/05\/CIMG3904_web.jpg 640w, https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/files\/2012\/05\/CIMG3904_web-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-636\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">my new toys<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After searching for the documentation and CLI commands I plugged in the 3750G&#8217;s power supply and was totally euphoric &#8230; and then bitterly disappointed. There is no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/en\/US\/products\/sw\/iosswrel\/products_ios_cisco_ios_software_releases.html\">iOS<\/a> image on the switch. \ud83d\ude41 So I have to transfer an image via console cable which takes about 4 hours. It is not easy to stay calm when you want to start your work and recognize that you have to wait for the XMODEM console transfer at approximately 873 bytes per second. \ud83d\ude1b As I am writing this post I am still waiting for the XMODEM transfer to finish, so I think I won&#8217;t start configuring <em>Cisco Smart Install<\/em> today. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After having heard that every new switch is configured manually and that there is no default configuration template, I suggested to use Cisco Smart Install to install and configure switches automatically.
