{"id":738,"date":"2012-05-14T16:34:49","date_gmt":"2012-05-14T15:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/?p=738"},"modified":"2012-06-16T23:54:30","modified_gmt":"2012-06-16T22:54:30","slug":"new-tasks-new-toys-follow-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/2012\/05\/14\/new-tasks-new-toys-follow-up\/","title":{"rendered":"New Tasks, New Toys (Follow-Up)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you can read in an <a href=\"https:\/\/userblogs.fu-berlin.de\/afibinirland2012\/2012\/05\/11\/new-tasks-new-toys\/\">earlier post<\/a>, I had to set up a testing environment for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/en\/US\/docs\/switches\/lan\/smart_install\/release_12.2_58_se\/configuration\/guide\/concepts.html\"><em>Cisco Smart Install<\/em><\/a>, which is now up and running.<\/p>\n<p>The Smart Install director (the device which manages iOS and configuration deployment to the Smart Install clients) acts as a DHCP server and configures new switches coming factory settings with an IP address, default gateway and a TFTP server address (DHCP option 150). Right now the director deploys images and configuration files only to devices with specific MAC addresses, as I only want to configure my test client at the moment. This feature is also called zero-touch deployment.
