The project examines how digital technologies are integrated into local governing processes in Chinese cities and what the impact of big data is on social, political and economic life in China. The ERC research team will introduce the overall project aims and summarize ongoing subprojects. Two sub-projects will be introduced in detail \u2013 the establishment of a DigiDatabase, tracking prefectural digital activities, and a study on the emergence of local big data bureaucracies in China.
