We use both quantitative and qualitative methods to study privacy in China. Qualitative data will be derived from document analyses, content analyses, online diaries and semi-structured interviews while quantitative data will be sourced from an experimental online survey and web-scraping. Types of data to be used include legal and policy documents, online public and media discourses, online diaries, online and in person interviews with citizens, experts, and civil servants, and lastly film material for a feature-length documentary.
