In this blog I sporadically comment on current developments in the world economy and new research I find interesting or irritating or both. It is intended for my students and anyone else interested in open economy macroeconomics, international finance and development economics, with a slight penchant for East Asian economies.
About me: I am a researcher at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE). I also teach courses in International Finance and International Monetary Relations at the Department of Economics of Freie Universität Berlin. Recent publications include Prospects for Monetary Cooperation and Integration in East Asia (MIT Press, 2010), Towards Monetary and Financial Integration in East Asia (edited with Koichi Hamada and Beate Reszat, Edward Elgar Publishing, 2009) and Regional Integration, Economic Development and Global Governance (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2011).
