hosted by the Cluster of Excellence “Temporal Communities”.

Moderated by Susanne Klengel.

The event will be held in Spanish with English subtitles and will be streamed online on www.lcb.de, followed by a live online discussion with the author in English, which will take place here at the Conference Platform.

Framed by two readings, from Poesía civil (2001) and Para un diccionario crítico de la lengua (in progress), Sergio Raimondi and cluster member Susanne Klengel will discuss poetry as research and as an epistemological challenge. Inspired by the topics that resonate in the poems, the conversation will touch on the role of gas pipelines, seagulls and microorganisms such as archaea in thinking about territory in its multiple scales.

The event is organised in collaboration with Literarisches Colloquium Berlin.

Sergio Raimondi is an Argentine poet, who also holds a professorship for Contemporary Literature at the Universidad Nacional del Sur. In 2001, he published a compilation of poems entitled Poesía civil, and since then he has been working on an all-encompassing ‘critical dictionary of language’, Para un diccionario crítico de la lengua, a project featuring alphabetically ordered entries of terms of the most diverse origins that question the limits of the disciplines of knowledge. In 2019, Wallstein published Problems of Writing an Ode to the Pacific Ocean, the opening speech Raimondi gave at the Berlin Poetry Festival 2019. He was awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim and the Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD. His poetry has been translated into English by Ben Bollig and Mark Leech.
