Associated project to T&E
My dissertation deals with Verlag der Autoren (VA), a play publisher in West Germany in the 1970s. Using this example, I discuss the production of plays not only as artworks but also as commodities. The corporate structure of VA, which is organized collectively, is interesting in terms of alternative working models in cultural industry: publishing is based not only on joint decisions and collective review of manuscripts, but also on ensuring individual productions by playwrights. Thus it contributes to the discussion about the transformation of cultural production after 1968.
