first week at work

Hello everyone,now I’ve finished the first week of work and I’m still happy about my work placement.
The colleages are very friendly and had a lot of work for me to do.
Today we preprared a lot of PC’s for charity and built a test enviroment for some services.
At 10 o’clock I went with Graham to a typical breakfast in IrelandIMG_20140516_102204

I commute to work by train and today the conductor checked my ticket 4 times.
Befor I enter the train, when I’m in the train and at the way back, it’s not the same like in Germany, but it would be maybe a good model for the „Deutsche Bahn“.

Wednesday the 14th

Hello everyone,

we just finished our third day of work and I still can´t understand any context yet but I slowly get used to it.
The National Museum of Northern Ireland (shortterm: NMNI) is a very good place for work.
It is fully surrounded by a forest and the environment looks nice.
The colleagues are very nice and its fun to work with them.
I have to take a train because the NMNI is located in the north of Belfast,so it takes about 40 minutes arrive at work but it’s ok since it’s equivalent to commute in Germany.
The train always arrives on schedule which is better then at home so I always arrive punctual which really ease the morning routine.

The Irish Food

Hello everyone,

the food in Ireland is very expensive and the fast food is not the same like it is in germany.
So it takes a lot of time to get used to it.
For Example the „Döner“ is completly different to the „Döner“ from germany but it is an experience.
They meat which is used is lam.

and the living costs are very high.
You´ll have to decide what you can buy and what is useless, but in the supermarkets there are a lot of offers so you can for example buy 2 for the price of one.
In the appartements there are modern kitchens so we are saving some money by cooking some of our favorite dishes from home.

Language School and the Gym

Hello everyone,

today we finished the language school.
It was very funny, because all of the teachers were very nice. I’m in a class with a Switzer, a lot of spanish people and two people from Italy.
Everybody has their own dialect and it was sometimes hard to understand this people, but after one day it works.
After the school Tim, Nick and me went to the Queens Gym which is called Technogym.
At first we rode the bikes. Meanwhile you can watch movies, listen music, play games on the screen. I have never seen this before.
The gym has a lot of squash halls, gym rooms and all kinds of sports equipments, which are needed for a perfect trainin, but it is very expensive it cost 6 pounds a day or for two month 65 pounds.
And it was a lot of fun.

The Prison in Belfast

Hello everyone,

now it`s time to write a post.
We arrived in Belfast at Saturday and it starts to rain and the weather doesn`t change the whole time. It rains 8 times a day and it’s very rare to see the sun.

The food is very expensive here and it’s incomparable to Germany.
The apartment is very good and we have everything that we need.

Yesterday we visit a prison and it was very interesting. The tour guide told us there was a time when 30 people need to share one single cell and they show us how they got killed.
It’s stated that the prison is a hotspot for paranormal activitiy.

The prisoners got a rope on their neck and then a trapdoor has open but the keeper which stand beside the prisoner must then hold on a rope so that they don`t fall too.Cell in the Prison
