Hi there everybody,
it is finally here – the last part of our travel diary (it feels as if it has been ages ago). The sunday started with breakfast as usual.
We planned our day and decided which points we would visit this day. Because we had to run some errands in the evening we aimed to return around 6pm. In the end we had two main stops: The city Athlone and the old monastery Clonmacnoise.
We walked through the city center of Athlone but on Sunday there is no big party like in Dublin.
We had a nice walk but the city was rather boring(in my opinion) so we left to check out Clonmacnoise. It is an old monastery which was found in 600 A.D. I really liked it because you could touch the old buildings and walk around freely. By the way the weather was still amazing.
There was a multilingual video presentation about the history and restauration of Clonmacnoise. The monastery is the centre of a large cementary which is still used today. After the visitation we went out with only one thing in mind: food. We found a nice restaurant in a castle-like building. The choise was only between two or three different meals but we did not complain.
From here on we drove directly to Dublin and reached it as planned around 6pm. We throw our luggage out an headed to Lidl. Because we still had the car we had to make use of it as much as possible so we bought lots of heavy things
All in all it was a great journey, the weather was fine all the time, we saw lots of interesting stuff and learned a lot about the Irish culture and lifestyle.
Whoever reads this – if possible visit Ireland and make a similar trip – but be careful with the weather.
By the way these four days including the car and fuel(1030km), hostels, food and entrance fees everyone had to pay about 160€ – I think the trip was worth much more.
This was the last part of the diary. I hope you enjoyed everything and read what happens in our last week in Ireland.
Have a nice time without us 😀
Jonas
PS: Almost forgot here are more pictures of the last day and here are all pictures together and even some videos.
Nicely done jonas!
