On Wednesday it is always very hard to get out of bed, because of the Diceys-Garden evening, that lasts very long every Tuesday. You get a pint for only two euro, that is very cheap, also in Germany.
Anyway, many people from all over the world are there. Ireland, England, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Germany, USA, India, China (summarized), etc.
It’s amazing how many people are in the pub, already at 19 o’clock. I guess it’s up to 250 people every Tuesday. Must be experienced!
It was a crazy and strange day, today. In Berlin, some radical left set a fire on a substation, the S-Bahn didn’t work, Vodafone was out of power and it’s Karl’s birthday. All that happened in Berlin.
But in Dublin the people went crazy too – due to Obama.
Thousands of people expected to attend an open air concert and address when US President Barack Obama arrives in Ireland. Rolling street closures were implemented for more than seven hours.
Every bridge was blocked. It was a spectacle. I recorded a video of the car parade of Obama.
After the event we went to some Gift Shops and bought gifts for our friends at home.
Finally we ate a big delicious burger in “burger gourmet kitchen”. Yummy !!! 😀
Today, the first thing we had to do is cleaning the work area, because Joe expected some new customers, who are very interested in the recycling equipment and procedure. After tidying up, the others came back to work. That means to build up dell-computer.
Meanwhile I created a new flash-animation for “CompDoc”. “CompDoc” is the new name of the company “ComputerDoctor”. In the animation you can see the word “COMPDOC” and this word is underlined with small ECG line, which should simulate the little heartbeats of the company. That looks very cool and it’s funny. All in all it is very nice and I guess Peter likes it.
On Wednesday we tinkered some custom mice for the company. Actually it is only a cut of the USB cable in a smaller length, so that the USB cable doesn’t lay around and interfers the user. After the cut we solder back the cable on the chip.
ComputerDoctor with JJ, Dustin and me. Philip and Brain were on their way to a customer, because of some problems with the DNS service.
JJ, Dustin and Me watched Mark during the troubleshooting of laptops. That is often funny to watch Mark, because his hands tremble very strong and he usually needs a little longer to screw the screws back.
Otherwise, we replaced a small LCD display and a searched for an IP Network Camera on the internet.
Not really exciting but sometimes you have to do this.
Actually, I was supposed to set up a store page, but in Ireland the registration of domains is not as easy as in Germany. That means I was not able to do the job. In Ireland private domains do not exist. Each domain, which ends up with “.ie” is a company.
When you register a company, you have to give certain information.
For example: activity of the company.
Actually not a bad idea, so there is not as much garbage on the internet.
Anyway.
What did I do instead of the store page? I created and designed a logo. Yes indeed a logo. The logo is an improvement of Dustins creation. Peter, my boss, still had some improvement ideas, but in the end it was super cool.
After I finished, we went to the print-guy next door. This print-guy has a lot of experience in designing logos and other things like that. He looked at the picture and said after a short time “brilliant”.
My Boss was happy, I was satisfied. Missing is only the Carlsberg at the pub with my colleagues and Friday the 13th was perfect once again.
The work at Techmatik is still the same – rebuilding some Dell-Desktops.
Because we have different models, we have to install at least one of the Desktops in the usually way and after this we have to install the OS with software and updates.
That is always very boring but then it’s getting better.
However, there are also days we have so much fun.
The Polish guys destroyed all the crappy old desktops with force and violence or in other words, these crazy people beat on this crappy shit with shovels till all the single pieces are flying around. If they are doing this it is loud but also funny.
Today three men came to us. Mr. Schlenger, Mr. Schubert and Mr. Bavar.
Together the picked up all colleagues and an army of nerds was marching towards the PUB!
CD -ComputerDoctor:
Our Irish boss came along with a new business idea. He called it „Waypoints“. The company ComputerDoctor is situated pretty far away from Dublin, because of that the customer area is very small and limited.
The Waypoints are places, where customs can leave their broken laptops and desktops. So if there are lots of the so called Waypoints all around Dublin, the number of customers increases.
Actually, Waypoints only are other shops, where you can find the Symbole / Logo of the ComputerDoctor Waypoints. In certain intervals, the laptops are collected. This business idea is very clever and it is much more reasonable than other home service… So I had to create a little logo.
Another task was to try some store systems for a new domain.
Phil worked on the infrastructure. JJ improved the current Webside of ComputerDoctor and Dustin watched me working and introduced some cool and nice ideas.
Friday, I was alone again in Techmatic and rebuilt the Dell-Desktops.
Only one of four workers was there and he sat in another corner of the big hall.
That was very funny, because there was no sound except my music. Joe ,my supervisor, is always laughing about the music I hear.
I asked him why he is laughing about the music and he said that the music type changes from song to song. Rock-> Techno->Oldie-> Drum & Bass… and so on.
Although I worked alone, I managed a lot. During the day I worked on seven PCs simultaneously, which installed or loaded some updates.
Because of rain and storm, Joe sent me back home at 3 pm. It was great, because my girlfriend was in Dublin for one week. So I could show her the city.
Today, it was the first day I was alone at work. Because of that, it was very quiet sometimes. The only loud noise was the big crushing machine when it destroyed some hard drives.
At this moment of destroying some hard drives, I had to go out of the hall to take a little break. Furthermore there is nothing more to tell. There are just so many computers, which we have to rebuild and that takes a lot of time. After the work was done, I was very tired.
I watched some episodes of “how I met your mother” and then I went to bed. Actually it was a short day, because nothing special or anything funny has happened.
Yes, from time to time, there are also boring days.
Last Weekend, we (Florian, Kristian, Jonas, Oliver und Ich) had a great super mega tour through the whole south of Irelands.
Approximate 1030 km with a rented car and on our way we saw everything from the volcanic lake, Cliffs, the beach etc. There’s nothing left to say, than: TWO THUMBS UP !!!
Because I didn’t load up some pictures yet, I’m gonna do this now. And the pictures will tell you something about the tour.
