Sell me this pen!

Hey everyone,

the last days were very relaxed. I used the time to wrote a lot of postcards and skyped with my friends and family. Unfortunately it rain a lot today so I did my laundry and cleaned my room.
On Saturday evening I watched a movie with Ryan and Paul. „The Wolf of Wallstreet“ was a very long movie with Leonardo Dicaprio, but it was very nice and deep. It showed me how quickly life can change.

„Sell me this pen!“

I will enjoy the last three weeks here in Dublin, but we all know that time passed quickly if it is a nice time… and it definitely is.

Familiar visitors

Hey everyone,

today me and Toni met our instructors Mr Bavar, Mrs Teichmann and Mrs Neumann in the Arlington Hotel. We had a very nice conversation about our time here in Dublin, the host families and about our currently workplaces. They invited us for a few drinks and gave us some useful tips for our work. The week is nearly over and we have only three weeks left. I will enjoy the next days and weeks and looking forward for new unpredictable impressions.

Thank you Angelo

Hey everyone,

actually I would like to write something about our „Roadtrip“, but I read Angelo’s blog entry and guess there is no information that he hasn’t mentioned. I totally agree that the trip was a moment in my life that I won’t forget. The countryside looks like it was edited with „Photoshop“. Unbelieveable and a little bit unreal if you don’t see it with your own eyes. The only negativ point was that I worn my new white shoes. During our climbing they were full of mud but to me it was worth it. The view from the top of the mountain was awesome. On the top we took a little brake, eaten some cookies, enjoyed the nice air and the beauty of the nature.

Angelo organized the roadtrip more than good and he and Paul drove perfectly in the Irish traffic.
I thank you guys for the nice days, lovely birthday presents, beautiful and funny moments! I wish we could repeat this some day.

Awesome weekend

Hey everyone,

the weekend passed very fast. Angelo, Tobias, Paul, Joel, Maximilian and I had a raodtrip and discovered a lot of sights in Ireland and Northern Ireland. On Friday Angelo and I went to the Dublin Airport. We rented a car and drove to Derry in Northern Ireland. It took a few hours but we arrived our target without any issues.

It was unfamiliar to drove on the left side of the road but Angelo had everything under control. Today we arrived Dublin in the late afternoon. I am very tired, it is nearly midnight hour because of this I will descrieb the procedure of our trip in the next blog entry.

Good night!

At the weekend Angelo and I will drive to Derry and visit some friends. After that we will drive along the westcoast towards Salthill. I think it is a great opportunity to make awesome pictures of the country, huge stonehenge, old monuments, beautiful houses and the endless fields.
I hope that the weather will be good on these days.

Every cloud has a silver lining

Hey everyone,

yesterday I celebrated my birthday with my host familiy.
The bought a little cake with candles on it.
They are so polite and I was very happy that they noticed that.
The weather here in Dublin alternates between sun and rain so fast. The last days were unfortunately rainy and cloudy.
Only on one day the weather was very warm and sunny
so I decided to visit the botanic garden in the west of Dublin.

Ryan came with me and he showed me also the big graveyard in Glasnevin. It is the biggest graveyard in Ireland and looks so amazing. We seen the grave of Daniel O’Connell. He was an Irish political leader and campaigned for Catholic Emancipation. His grave is beneath a round tower.

After that we went to the city centre and had a lunch there. Ryan was looking for a tattoo parlor. We strolled through the little side streets and Ryan made an appointment in the tattoo parlor.

Afterwards we took the bus, drove home and enjoyed the cloud-free evening.

A caring weekend

Hey everyone,

yesterday we had a few problems with the network in our company. Jonas and I tried to fixed it, but after some troubleshooting we expected that the issue is out of the „Computer Factory“. In the evening Jonas, Toni and I walked to „The Stages Head“ pub and enjoyed the Irish live music. The atmosphere was awesome because after a few hours the pub was full of people and everyone talked to each other, sung and laughed. We stayed there until the pub closed and took a taxi to get home dry. Today Paul and I bought some beans, eggs, bacon, bread and sausages for a typical Irish breakfast. It tasted awesome. Paul invited four of his friends for the breakfast and after that we had a nice and funny conversation. I relaxed the rest of the day and spent some time on the Internet to talk with my family and friends.

One is not enough

Hey everyone,

the third week is nearly over and it doesn’t get boring. In the last two days I organized a lot of stuff for the stockholder, the PXE-Server and WSUS.

I cleaned the whole office and built a nice bench for our WSUS and PXE project.
A workmate and I installed all cable in the office so that it is easier to test the incoming hardware and to operate on the desks. We also repaired an old printer. The printer is now working on both workplaces and the Cisco switch is also connected to our servers and works fine.
We are looking forward to create a domain and test a very nice tool for the pxe installation.
I examined our network „rack“ and was horrified. It does not look as bad as the racks in Angelo’s company but now i understand a little how he felt while he tried to took apart the mesh.
Beastly job..

We also finished the „6-monitor-build“ for the stockholder and gave him a little
presentation how it looks like.
The PC works nearly noiseless and don’t need too much space.

6monitors

The next project will be a little PCs which support between 10 and 12 monitors.
I am glad that I have the opportunity to pursue my interests.

Surprise surprise!

The last days passed very fast. I had to do a lot of work and my boss decided, that my workmate and I must develop a new network infrastructure in the next weeks. The reason is that the location is a new place of the company. The company has a functional network but he needs different subnetwoks for different functions. I also assembled a few PCs for customers with special requirements and wishes. I prefere such tasks, because I love to deal with hardware.

The warehouse is full of hardware and Peter(my boss) told me, that I can use every item that i need for my tasks. I found a lot of Cisco equipment which is in a good condition. I was suprised that I found such devices in a warehouse full of „old“ hardware. It is also a good training for me to configure Cisco routers and switches, because I am looking forward to pass the CCNA exam in a few weeks.

Who knows what I will find in the next days.

Your George.

Nightlife in Dublin

The weekend has been pretty eventful. The evening at the „Karma Stone Bar“ was great and the music was good, but all in all a little too noisy. We stayed until the Bar closed and Ryan drove us home after the night, as we planned.

On Saturday I spent most of the day relaxing and getting some sun since the weather was surprisingly warm and nice for Ireland. In the afternoon I went for a walk and took a look at the stores around my neighborhood. It’s very convenient to have them close by in case I need anything fast. My “Hostdad” and my “Hostbrother”came home really late, it was already 2 am when they arrived. They have been at an event all day and brought friends with them when they came home.

The party went on until 6 am. Today I prepared everything for work, cleaned my room and did my laundry.
