Der Versuch, den Alltag am Balaton, aber auch an den anderen Erinnerungsorten erforschen zu können oder wieder neu aufleben zu lassen ist schwierig, uns jedoch meiner Meinung nach in verschiedenen Fällen geglückt.
Die Exkursionsgruppe kam am Urlaubsort Siofok erstmals richtig zusammen und man lernte sich näher kennen. Das Baden am Nachmittag und das Ballspiel am nächsten Tag sorgten für das Entstehen einer angenehmen Atmosphäre. Auch, wenn wir im Hintergrund keine unterschiedlichen politischen Systeme hatten, trug die katalysierende Wirkung des Urlaubsgefühls einen großen Teil dazu bei, dass wir uns so gut verstanden und schnell ins Gespräch kamen. Somit konnte ich mir annähernd vorstellen, wie es vor 25 Jahren in der Urlaubsregion um den Balaton abgelaufen sein könnte. Die Beengtheit in Herbergen oder auch das gemeinsame Baden waren sicher maßgebliche Beschleuniger einer Annäherung von DDR- und BDR-Bürgern sowie Ungarn.
Einen ähnlichen Weg wie den, den wir während unseres Ausfluges gegangen sind, legten sicher auch manche DDR-Flüchtlinge Ende der 1980er Jahre zurück. Über Prag, Richtung „Urlaub am Balaton“, dann nach Budapest, um dort die Situation des Konflikts zwischen illegalem Ausreisen und unbedingtem Willen zur Flucht zu erkennen. Anschließend an den Ort, an dem sich ein entscheidender Teil deutscher, aber auch ungarischer und österreichischer Geschichte Bahn brach – im Grenzgebiet bei Sopron. Woraufhin dann in Wien schlussendlich von der erlangten Freiheit gekostet werden konnte.
Natürlich ist unsere Situation kaum mit der damaligen vergleichbar, allerdings habe ich besonders durch unsere Gespräche mit Monika Baar einen spannenden Einblick in Ungarns aktuelle Situation bekommen können. Dabei lag auf der Hand, dass viele Ereignisse und Entscheidung, die damals getroffen wurden noch heute nachwirken und größtenteils nicht hinreichend aufgearbeitet werden. Beispielsweise die Überbleibsel von „Fusi“-Aktionen oder auch der geduldete Verstoß gegen die Ordnung, indem man sich am Balaton sein eigenes Urlaubsquartier baute. Vieles passt sich fast nahtlos in das Bild des heutigen Ungarns ein, muss jedoch immer im Kontext der Vergangenheit betrachtet werden.
Die Stimmung des Jahres 1989, aber auch der vorhergehenden Jahre war sicher mit dem bewegenden Besuch des Budapester Malteserhauptsitzes und der Zeitzeugenbefragung am ehesten greifbar. Rückblickend kann ich jedoch sagen, dass sich meine Sicht auf die Thematik des Ost-West-Konflikts enorm erweitert, aber such geschärft hat. Das Thema in seinem vollen Umfang zur erfassen ist andererseits vermutlich kaum möglich, da sich auf unserer Exkursion noch mehr neue und abermals interessante Fragen für mich ergeben haben, die ich jetzt in weiterer Recherche ergründen muss und will.
