Jenseits der geteilten Stadt Berlin

In der vergangenen Woche waren wir unter dem Motto „Sommer im Sozialismus“ auf den Spuren von Ost-West-Kontakten, Alltag und Dissens in Prag, Budapest, Wien, Sopron und am Balaton. Unsere Reise hat den Ost-West-Konflikt einmal abseits von dem geteilten Berlin; der „Hauptstadt des Kalten Krieges“ beleuchtet und somit in ein anderes Licht gerückt. Am Balaton, dem zentralen Treffpunktvieler ost- und westdeutschen Familien, am Grenzort Sopron über den viele DDR-Bürgernach Österreich flüchteten aber auch in Budapest, wo wir den Malteser Hilfsdienst besuchten, der 1989 für die DDR-Flüchtlinge einZeltlager errichtete und sich um ihre Versorgung und medizinische Betreuung kümmerte, wurde sehr deutlich, welche entscheidende Rolle auch Ungarn für die Wiedervereinigung zukommt. Vor allem der Besuch der Zeitzeugen des Malteser Hilfsdienst hat unsere Exkursionsgruppe sehr bewegt und hat mich selbst sehr berührt. Alle unsere Fragen an die Zeitzeugen, die damals den DDR- Flüchtlingen so selbstlos undbereitwillig geholfen haben und sie bei sich zu Hause aufgenommen haben, schienen auf einer völlig anderen Ebene gestellt worden zu sein. Wir fragten beispielsweise nach der persönlichen Motivation der Helfer, wo doch wenige Jahrzehnte zuvor die Deutschen soviel Schrecken auch über Ungarn gebracht haben, doch die Antwort war unmissverständlich und einfach: „Wer Hilfe braucht, muss sie bekommen“. Auch die Frage nach der Finanzierung von Zelten, Hubschraubern, Lebensmitteln und Medikamente war einfach: „Gott hat gegeben“. Mir wurde durch dieses Zeitzeugengespräch bewusst, wie sehr Fragen und Antworten auf eine gewisse Art aus unterschiedlichen Zeiten stammen können und das es unmöglich ist die genaue Atmosphäre im Herbst 1989 in Ungarn nachempfinden zu können. Doch durch unsere Exkursion, die vielen Zeitzeugengespräche, und bildlichen Eindrücke konnten wir dieser Atmosphäre so nah wie möglich kommen und sind in Ungarn, Tschechien und Österreich den Geschehnissen rund um die Deutsche Wiedervereinigung bedeutend nahe gekommen.
