roadtrip extended edition (part 1)

A new day, a new car and a group eager to explore a whole country:

After sleeping off the frustration and equipped with a brand new car, we were going to explore the whole northern shore and its interesting spots. I must say that I was very happy to see that the group morale wasn’t affected a bit by the unfortunate events from the day before. This made the whole trip very enjoyable right from the start.
We started off with a stop at the Carrickfergus Castle where the first two pictures were taken. We had a big (second) breakfast there, so we were prepared for the rest of this long trip (600km in total).

Along the coastal route which led us along the cliffs up to the north we made several stops…

…just to enjoy the scenery which was the most beautiful one I’ve seen in my life…

…and that’s me talking here as the driver who had to drive in such tight and steep streets that we hat to fold up our external mirrors to be able to pass other cars on a 50 mile stretch.
This drive was simply too intense to describe it adequately and a photo could not show any of this. That’s why Rene, who came with us, prepares an video report on this to show the unique scenery while we squeezed past cars @60mph with just ~5cm to a wall of rocks on the other side.
Yepp, I got used to drive on the other side so we made the whole trip without any further incidents (except killing a rabbit on the motorway @70mph, but nothing happened to the car so it’s just collateral damage).

After we decided to skip some minor waypoints on our way(some of which we simply did not find fast enough and couldn’t waste time on a thorough search) we arrived at our first mayor site, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge where I had time to check my emails while waiting to be able to cross the actual bridge.
That’s where I received an email from my boss with exact locations for our meeting in the evening where we joined him in a music pub, talked a lot, had some drinks(just coke for me) and Rene gave a performance of „99 Luftballons“ while playing the guitar. A truly nice end to a day like this, but let’s get back to the actual trip:

The real excitement just got started when we arrived at the Giants Causeway where we spent a lot of time because of the sheer size of this location.
I really recommend to read the posts of the other guys (Chris and
Paul) from the afib-team who came with me to get more info on the trip and their impressions.
Why? Because this trip was MASSIVE

Maybe you also find out how we finally got to the Dunluce Castle from where we went to meet my boss, relax and eventually get home sometime in the night…

Greetings to everyone reading this! Thanks for reading!
