intensive language training project

In case anybody is wondering if everything went smoothly with the refund for the car that broke down two weeks ago…
Well, I have the great opportunity to improve my English even more thanks to Budget Car Rental (especially when it comes to legal terms which I do not use that often).
Budget decided to invest lots of time and manpower in order to educate me and show how important customer service is to them.
My main motivation was my new pen pal @Budget who likes to use many quotes from some fine printed ancient scrolls, so I decided to take matters into my hands and speak with someone more creative, but let me give you a quick overview of what happened so far:

  1. the exquisite Asian car we got unexpectedly broke down
  2. budget couldn’t supply us with a new car so they refunded us for one day
  3. the refund for the day we had used the car ~2h was explained to us as a „formality“ that would be dealt withy by customer service
  4. so we rented another car from a different rental company and enjoyed the rest of our weekend
  5. last week I tried to reach someone by phone but they rather use email, so that’s how I met my new pen pal
  6. my pen pal turned out to be totally boring repeating herself and lacking any common sense
  7. I decided to make friends with the people from the consumer council in Belfast
  8. they agreed that my pen pal isn’t very creative and the ancient quotes have flaws in them
  9. we decided to write a final letter to my pen pal
  10. because I rather prefer to talk to people in person I couldn’t wait until our first date so I went directly to the Budget city office where I met my pen pal and her manager
  11. unfortunately my English seems to be so bad that they simply did not understand what I meant by „customer service“, „courtesy“, „common sense“
  12. I also believe I did not understand them correctly because I believe they said their customers always pay for mechanical breakdowns of their cars

To sum it up:
I have a new business plan thanks to the creativity of the manager from Budget; I just need to buy up enough defective cars which I can then rent to some jerks.

But in order to prevent further misunderstandings I’ll give them time to read and understand my letter so after that wee can meet in a quiet place where there are people who are trained to mediate between people.
I still do not understand why those poor guys always seem to have problems with their furniture because every time I see one of them they are fixing their table with a hammer…

DISCLAIMER:
This story is based on actual facts and is described from a totally subjective point of view.
In case you can’t see any sense in the order of events…
…well, there is none…
