Delayed Traveldiary – part 3 „Along the westcoast“

Hi outdoor enthusiastics,

I think most of you already forgot, but we made a trip trough the south of Ireland two weeks ago. So finally here is the third part(of four). Hope you enjoy.

Our day began at 8 o’clock in the early morning. After breakfast we left the Neptune’s Hostel in Killarney. Our first destination was Dingle a small town in the very West of South Ireland. We wanted to check the Ring of Kerry but decided agains it because we had no time and the local weather was very cloudy. However we stayed in Dingle for about one hour. We ate fish&chips or a burger and enjoyed the fresh air.

We drove along the West Coast and even through we did not see much of the sea we got again a great view over the green island:

As we drove north we had to make a decision. On the one hand we could take a ferry from Tarbert to Killmere over the Shannon or drive around over Limerick. After a short discussion it was decided to take the ferry(20min only and 150km less):

Our trip continued and after a few minutes we found a beach where we wanted to take a short bath. However the water was so cold that only Florian and Oliver went in while Denny and Kristian stayed out of the water with me(well our feet were wet):

After an other hour we finally arrived at the highlight of our day: The cliffs of Moher. They are pretty amazing but unfortunately there is only a small portion of the cliffs open for visitors.

It was already late and we had to check in before 8pm so we couldn’t stay for long. We arrived in Galway on schedule and after check in we had a nice walk through the city:

We ate fast food for dinner and went to bed pretty early(before midnight if I remember correct).
