Work week

My work week was as usual a mixture of moving equipment around and reassembling PCs. On Monday we had to move Thin-Clients from one branch to another but because the cables were needed elsewhere we couldn’t get them to work at all. Eric, Max and me are moving more and more between the 3 buildings, so we often need to walk around the city ourselves, which is great because Belfast is at least in the inner city an interesting place to be during the work hours. For example we’ve seen a few Google Street View cars on the roads or in front of the court there were interviews taken with the local news reporters which were broadcasted to BBC. There are quite a lot of ways to go to the Riverhouse building and we usually take the one which is going along a small pedestrian area where a lot of Cafés and restaurants are located, including the big Victoria Square Shopping Centre which is a nice place for having lunch. On Wednesday Mr. Bavar, Mrs. Neumann and Mrs. Teichmann came along our firm to talk to us about the work experience and the internship in general. They were accompanied by Ruth from Intern Europe and Mrs. Brady from Concentrix whom had a nice talk with them. After exchanging a few words and taking some pictures they had to go again because of the tight shedule they had for the day. On that day the CCNA NetRiders also took place, where some of us had participated. On Thursday and Friday we had to assemble fans for the buildings and fix up office chairs. We we’re around in different contractor areas which gave us again an impression who the things are working there in the company. All in all it was quite a nice week and I’m looking forward for the remaining time in Belfast.

five weeks over, three to go

On Friday evening we went to Tesco and Iceland to buy some groceries for the next week.
Afterwards we made again some nice burgers for our dinner.
While having dinner Nick and I enjoyed the movie Pain & Gain even though I have already seen it but its still a nice movie.
On Saturday Nick, Martin, Eric, Joel and Tim went to the local Comic Con but I decided to stay at home since I’m not really into Anime and Manga.
Other than that the Weekend was rather uneventful. We stayed up long on Saturday so we decided to do a lazy Sunday.

From Germany with Love

I was lucky enough to pick up my girlfriend on friday evening to show her around Belfast and tell her about all the exciting experiences I made so far. We are planning to make another road trip this weekend and I am really happy that I am used to drive around in Northern Ireland and can differentiate which parts of the North Coast are interesting to see and add some more stops on the way. As I am writing this post we are having a typical british breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon all as a side dish with a huge beagle next to it. The weather is beautiful and I couldn’t be happier to hit the road again… this time as a pair of two!

important telephone conference

I feel like I am becoming a more important part of Speechstorm than ever before. This is due the importance of a telephone meeting we had on friday where I was not only setting up the call itself but also contributing to the further development of the spanish localization task we are currently working on. We were talking to an american company which as a little side note also provided for the very known of apple devices Siri. In this call where me and two other colleagues were connected to the three persons on the other side of the world were talking about further development questions I was able to ask important questions and felt really „useful“ if you know what I mean. The call took a lot more than expected but it was a huge contribution to our ongoing tasks.

Comic Con

Hello everyone,

at this weekend Eric, Joel, Nick, Tim and me visited the Comic Con in Belfast.
The Comic Con was in the King`s Hall in Belfast and there were a lot of people and we had to wait over an hour to buy our ticket.
Eric, Joel and Nick are very excited but Tim and me found it not very well.
I think that we doesn’t watch enough comic and mangas but it was a expericiene.IMG_20140607_143730
The best thing what I found was the car from the movie Back to the Future.

Eric, Joel and Nick want to spend more time at the Comic Con but Tim and me wanted to leave.

Sell me this pen!

Hey everyone,

the last days were very relaxed. I used the time to wrote a lot of postcards and skyped with my friends and family. Unfortunately it rain a lot today so I did my laundry and cleaned my room.
On Saturday evening I watched a movie with Ryan and Paul. „The Wolf of Wallstreet“ was a very long movie with Leonardo Dicaprio, but it was very nice and deep. It showed me how quickly life can change.

„Sell me this pen!“

I will enjoy the last three weeks here in Dublin, but we all know that time passed quickly if it is a nice time… and it definitely is.

The Belfast Comic Con

Hi there!

This weekend a Comic Con took place here in Belfast. And of course, we were there to check out this event and to make pictures of some hand made cosplay costumes. Actually it was a quite small hall, but we still had to wait over an hour in the line to get into. After we finally made it into we walked around a bit to see everything. I was looking for some mangas the whole time, but unfortunately I couldn’t find even one booth which sells some. But I guess at least it was a success for Eric, because he found a lot of Bronie stuff and met some supporters of the Bronie cult. After that we took a taxi to the city center, where we visited the Forbidden Planet another comic and merchandise store, where I got a fabric banner of Shizuo, a character of the anime Durarara!!, which will get a second season soon. Back at home we made burgers for dinner again and let the evening fade away in a relaxing atmosphere with watching some movies and stuff.

The week in total

Hello everyone,

on Wednesday I added a Hyper-V Cluster to the DPM at work, but it didn’t run at the first try. I had to fix some configurations (firewall, permission), but now they are are added and the replication is in progress and on Monday I have to test it for functioning. But for this I had to create a virtual machine so I can put in the backup, because it’s not recommend in a life enviroment.
In my last article I’ve spoken about the new contract in the cafeteria and they changed the breakfast on Friday, so they canceled the best meal of the week.

This weekend is the Comic Con in Belfast and I will post what happens there on my next article.
