A Vibrant Weekend in Wroclaw

This Saturday, our sightseeing journey took us through the city’s heart, where history and modernity blend seamlessly. The warm weather led us to the serene banks of the Oder River, a perfect spot for contemplation and enjoying the moment.

In the afternoon, we retreated to the comfort of our hotel’s public activity rooms for some spirited mini-golf and table tennis. It was a great way to relax and bond with friends.

As evening fell, the Oder River, illuminated by the city lights, offered a stunning view, reflecting Wroclaw’s beauty back at us. We rounded off the night with a stroll through the old city and a taste of local cuisine, soaking in the atmosphere of this vibrant place.

On Sunday, we had a great day in Wroclaw. The weather was perfect for a boat tour, so that’s what we did. It was really nice to see the city from the water. After the boat ride, we walked around, exploring new parts of the city we hadn’t seen before.

When it got dark, we started getting ready for our day trip to Krakow the next day. We checked our plans and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s exciting to think about visiting another city in Poland!

This weekend in Wroclaw was full of fun, and now we’re looking forward to what Krakow has to offer!

Having a good time

Hey my dear friends of the IT,

Just wanted to share some stuff about my time here in Breslau. It’s been really cool so far. We’ve been doing a lot of things, and I gotta say, time flies when you’re having fun.

So, we’ve been having English classes with George, who’s a real funny guy. He makes learning English kinda fun.

Last Saturday, we went to the zoo. The weather wasn’t great, a bit gray with some rain, but the aquarium there was super cool. I’m not a big zoo person, but the fish were awesome and some of them even very funny.

Then, on Friday, we did laser tag. I was so excited about it all week. The guy running it was really nice, he explained the rules, and then we split into groups and started playing. It was so much fun, but also really tiring. We were all pretty worn out by the end.

After laser tag, we had the rest of the day to ourselves. I went out with Tobi who really become a new friend of mine, Fanlai, Dzehaml and Timur and started the evening at this Italian place that Georgi recommended. Then we went bar-hopping, checking out the nightlife.

Saturday was chill. We just walked around, enjoying the weather and also some sightseeing. At the evening timur and me played some video games before we went to bed.

Overall, my time here in Breslau has been awesome. From English classes with George to zoo visits and laser tag, it’s been great. Can’t wait to see what else we get up to.

Catch you later

Further Adventures in Wroclaw

The week in Wroclaw has flown by, and I can hardly believe how many exciting experiences we’ve already had.

Wednesday brought us to an IT school, where we gained a glimpse into their working methods. They emphasize practical work extensively, and I must say, their chairs were surprisingly comfortable, and class sizes noticeably smaller compared to our school.

Afterwards, Georgi (our english teacher) took us on a stroll through the city. We savored the fresh air and aesthetic surroundings before settling by the riverside to discuss Tuckman’s theory on team building. It was fascinating to hear different perspectives and witness how this theory is put into practice.

The next day, we visited the zoo. While we didn’t see as many animals as we’d hoped, it was still a pleasant outing and a welcome change of pace.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly our visit to the John Weston Group on Friday. The CEO proudly showcased his company, and it was impressive to learn about the achievements of such a „small“ enterprise. Discovering their collaborations with major companies like Google and Pepsi was truly eye-opening, demonstrating that even seemingly small companies can achieve great things.

The week concluded with a bang: a session of laser tag followed by a fun-filled bar-hopping tour. It was a night of unforgettable laughter and camaraderie.

Wroclaw has truly captivated and surprised us thus far, and I look forward to what the coming days have in store. Stay tuned for more updates from our Polish adventure! <3

Exploring the city of Wrocław

On Tuesday, March 26th, our day began fresh and well-rested at 10 a.m. We arrived at the Avantis office with our English teacher, Georgi. Georgi originally comes from Georgia and has been accompanying language trips and similar events for about 13 years, primarily aiming to impart knowledge to young people in an open and communicative way.

During an English lesson by the Oder, we took a photo of our participants and Georgi, which I’ll attach below. After class, Dzhemal, Timur, Tobi (another participant in the language trip and an apprentice at the Helios Hospital Group), and I spent the break enjoying a delicious pizza.

Following the break, we jumped right into the „City Game“. We met in the Old Town with Anna, our coordinator, who briefed us on the rules. We formed four groups and had to complete various tasks related to the history of Wroclaw. This included taking pictures with the so-called „Krasnal Sisyphus Dwarfs“ and uncovering different pieces of information about the city – all without the aid of Google and the like.

After the game, Timur and I grabbed a bite to eat and relaxed for a bit, as the day had been quite exhausting. All in all, it was an exciting yet tiring day – but one filled with unforgettable experiences and valuable lessons.

A Good Start for the Week

Our first full day in Wrocław, Monday, marked the official start of our language adventure. We gathered at 10:00 AM, ready to dive into the world of English language learning. Our coordinator had arranged for us to receive public transport tickets.

The day’s journey led us to the Semper Avanti office, where an array of interactive activities awaited us. We met our Teacher George, who is very kind and funny. The atmosphere was buzzing with nervous energy as we embarked on our first challenge: get-to-know-each-other games. Among these, „Getting-to-Know Bingo“ and mutual interviews stood out, not just as icebreakers, but as our first real test of conversational English. These games were not only fun but also incredibly effective in fostering a sense of community among us.

After the morning’s activities, it was time to shift our focus to more structured learning. We tackled a series of worksheets that gradually increased in difficulty, challenging us to apply what we had learned in a more formal context. The day culminated in a test that, despite the initial groans, turned out to be a valuable opportunity to assess our understanding and areas for improvement.

With our first session behind us, we were dismissed for the day. The evening was spent wandering through Wrocław’s Old Town. The sights and sounds of the city were a great experience, it was very beautiful!

Arrival

Last Sunday, we met at Südkreuz to take the Flixbus together to Wrocław. Upon our arrival in the city, I noticed how clean and colorful everything is here compared to Berlin.

Our accommodation, the Basecamp, provided us with single rooms with modern facilities and a great location. Unfortunately, it rained during the first two days, but we made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves in the leisure rooms of the accommodation.

Our main reason for traveling to Poland was a language course. So far, we have mainly focused on icebreaker games, such as Bingo. Today, we delved into Phrasal Verbs and then played a City Game where we searched for gnomes in the marketplace and had to answer questions about their stories.

I have to admit that I’m really enjoying the trip so far, and I’m excited to see what else awaits us. It’s interesting to get to know Polish culture and language in this way, and I look forward to more experiences in the days to come.

See you soon with new updates from Wrocław!
