After having presented my progress so far and having specified more requirements, there seems to be even more to do in less time.
Luckily I designed my solution heavily object oriented, so it can be extended easily.
One thing that cannot be extended so easy is my internship here in Ireland and that’s why after having visited me and my company here in Belfast, my supervisor Mr Bavar will try to figure something out, he said. I hope my
boss, who made this internship possible in the first place will/can make this possible too
So what happened until now?
I’ve developed a whole corporate performance measurement system for translink from scratch. It’s tailored to the business logic of the company and adapts to the internal data management. The intent is to centrally collect all relevant corporate data and process it in order to analyse it and identify problems, something that should help the whole corporation perform better, be easier to manage and last but not least to centralize data aggregation and processing.
The central IT department where I work is a nice place to work and that’s not just because it’s a 10 minute walk from where I live. The people working there make this place to what it is:
I feel like on the set of a „The Office“ set but with a nice touch to it. I enjoy the companionship between the people and the fact that even though I am the only programmer and therefore isolated per se I still feel like one of the group.
My boss here in Belfast is also a person who knows what’s important and I truly respect him for his insight that especially my project needs much more social skills than any knowledge of any technology.
What I mean is that even full knowledge of every programming language, the theory behind them and their API/libraries gets you nowhere if you cannot communicate with your client (or simply are ignorant enough to think you don’t need to).
But read more on that in an experimental analogy I will try to draw in one of my future articles…
