Week 5

Hi guys

I hope you are well.

Everything is fine here in Dublin. At Monday we were in Howth again, because this day was a bank holiday. At morning we were shopping in Lidl for food. After this shopping tour we met our colleagues in Howth. As Nick, Mike and Felix arrived in Howth later, so we walked along the beach. After the other guys arrived, we searched for a place to get lunch.  But all restaurants at the coast were too expensive, so we bought us a snack in a little shop. The people in this shop were very crazy. They took at least five orders at once. It was a big confusion.   After a good lunch we climbed the cliffs and had a nice view on the ocean. In the evening we cooked and relaxed the remaining time.

Yesterday was a normal workday. I created a web API and learned many new things. After work I cooked fish, vegetables and rice and we relaxed the remaining evening and watched Breaking Bad. For the weekend we planned a bus tour to the Cliffs of Moher and a Celtic Tour to 7 different places.

Long weekend failed

Hi guys,

how are you? I hope well. This weekend we had the long weekend with the bank holiday.
Our plan was, that we would rent a car and visit Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher. Everything was booked.
At sunday, as we arrived at the airport, we search for budget office first. As we spoke with the people from budget, we got to know that we are too young to rent a car. We were very konfused because at the budget website we found other information.
After this big problem we canceled the reservation. The guy from budget advised us to visit another shop. But no car rental would give us a car.
After this mess Stefan was luckily able to cancel the hotel free of charge. So we didn’t lose money.

After we arrived in our appartment we thought about what we would do this day. So we met with our other colleagues and visit the Trinity College and a very nice parc.

After a long walk Stefan and I had a burger from Supermac’s and chilled the evening.

As a result the weekend wasn’t as good as we planned it. But for the next weekend we will visit the Cliff of Moher and other place with a bus-tour like Lars did.

Meeting with my boss

Wendsday was a normal day. At work I programmed my web service again and fixed some programming issues.
After work Stefan and I went  to the “bookworm” to send our packets and then we went shopping to Lidl. At home Stefan cooked for
us. Yes I didn’t cook because this evening we had burgers and Stefan serves brilliant burgers
After a good dinner we watched the football game, it was very good 😀

Thursday I published my cloud/web service. At the beginning we had some problems, but after I solved these it worked.
After lunch I met Mr. Bavar and Mrs. Neumann, we talked with my mentor about my project etc .
Shortly after the visit from Mr. Bavar and Mrs. Neumann I programmed again. I changed my program , so that I get an email with the information,
which I will put in a database.
After a nice workday Stefan and I went to the pub at the Arlington hotel,where Mr. Bavar stayed. He spend tried us to a Guinness and we talked about something.
It was nice that we could talk so casually and not is official as I expected.

The 4th week

Hi Guys
Yesterday was obviously the start in the 4th week – and it was ok. At work I programmed at my SMTP/web service project. I’m so lucky that I didn’t make an apprenticeship to a software developer.
It is very difficult to fix problems at my own program. The first part of the day I wrote some methods to get “Event Notification” from “SendGrid”. An Event Notification is a message from SendGrid, which gives you information about the following: what does the User do with your mail? For example is the mail clicked, bounced, delivered, spam reported or unsubscribed.
Until lunch I had many problems with the syntax. Like every time at lunch my colleagues and I talked about the weekend and other topics.
I think that my English gets better from time to time. After lunch I fixed my own programming issues. I was really happy about it. At home we cooked and sent a mail to a wakeboard club, for a request. Also, we search for a rental car shop. It is disappointing how less cars shops are open at the long weekend.
Today I programmed a method, which saves the data into a log file or into a database and I tried to send a message to “SendGrid” with a value of 200. With this value, SendGrid checks if I get the data correct.
Meanwhile Google became my best friend :D. After work Stefan and I purchased something for the packets and visited the post office.
At home I cleaned the bathroom and our living room. After that I cooked the dinner and I research further for a car.

The Weekend is over

Hi guy’s

the third week is over. Thursday and Friday were normal workdays. At Friday evening Stefan and I
had dinner at Supermac’s. After a good dinner we went to a little whiskey shop. The guy
from the shop was very funny. At the beginning he told us about some typical irish whiskey tastes. After
a little lesson we had the chance to test 2 whiskeys. They were very delicious. The decision which
whiskey to choose was hard, but with the help from this connoisseur I found good stuff.

Yesterday after a souvenier shopping tour we called Alex. We wanted to go to the coast. Alex agreed
and visited us in our arpartment. At 4 p.m. we went to the train station. It wasn’t easy to find
the train station because on the map it wasn’t shown so clearly. After a „nice“ train ride,
with a train that smelled like piss, we arrived at 5p.m. in Howth. It’s a typically coast-village.
After a long walk we saw the nice cliffs. The perspective on the cliffs was stunning.

Today is a normaly sunday. We searched for a gls shop, to get information about sending liquids to Germany.
After that we had a look at the wakeboarding area in Dublin City, because in May I would like to go wakeboarding in Dublin
😀
At home we cooked and enjoyed the evening. Also, we planned the next weekend with Nick, where we
intend to explore the country with a rental car.

Friendlyness, politeness and appreciated work

Yesterday I had a bad day.

I didn’t get any further with my work, although I watched and read many about these topics.
I also called on Richard so that we could solve this problem. He told me with a smile:
“Don’t worry. No person can learn all of these in so short time. “

I told him my problem and what I know to solve it.
After the call about my second project, he asked me what I would like to do the remaining time.

I like the Irish mentality and calmness. All people are very friendly ^^.

As I am open for everything, he suggested I work on the reports again.
Today I started to research for the actual project.
I created a new WCF service and added some “DataMembers” and “DataContracts”.

After Lunch I programmed further with the aid of Deepu and Lince.

Today I wasn’t as demotivated as yesterday.
Before I finished my work today, I saved the backup from our database. It’s a routine at work.
Every day after work, Richard thanks me, eventhough I am no big help.
This is a nice feeling, because in germany my work is not appreciated as much.

Actually the weather isn’t the best right now, but I hope that we will have sunshine at the weekend.
I will propably meet with someone I got to know, (I hope me English is good enough :D), and visit the coast with my colleagues.

Normaly Day in 3 Week

At Monday at work I watched library videos from pluralsight, it’s an internet learning
Platform to the topic WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) basics.
It isn’t an easy task to learn WCF programming in Visual Studio 2010.
But it is better than nothing.   After 3 hours watching videos and the lunch I created a
console.application and wcf-service-library with the simple test
“helloworld“. After work I cooked for my colleagues and me. The evening wasn’t so long for me, because I have to cure my cold.

Today was a normaly workday. I watched the other videos about my project. The topics are as interesting as hard. Because the videos are in a good english
I learn a lot and understand the most even if I watch the videos only once.
After a hard day, Richard and I resolved some issues in a report.

Now we watch the cheampions leage and cook our dinner.

End of the second week

Hi guys

the second week ist over. Thursday and friday were very nice workdays.
In my projekt I created my first web service. I programmed this in c#.
It’s very similar to java. The test failed, because I used the
false timestamp. So I did send me 334 mails in 3 minutes to my charite
account. That was very funny.

After the work we cooked and met some colleagues in a pub called
„Buskers“.
Some guys and I went to a club at midnight. At the beginning it wasn’t
so cool, but later we had a lot of fun.
Yesterday Stefan and I went to the harbour, but we choose the wrong
one. It was the industry harbour and we didn’t see the ocean.

After a sunny walk, all our colleagues visit us and we made a little home party.

Today is our cleaningday and the rest of it we’ll chill and enjoy the sunshine at our balcony.

A normaly midweek

Hi guy’s

how’s it goin‘? Nothing! The last two days I have totaly screwed. The work is hard, but interessting.
Today I  created my first web service. It is a little bit complicated, therefore very cool. I don’t know, what I could report.

The trip to our work ist very long and the most time I sleep in the bus. We got used to the friendlyness of the busdriver already.
Even though I havn’t much time after the work, I often go jogging in the park. The park is small, but so beautiful.
At the right side is a little river and in the center of the park are many sportfields (football, hockey, rugby and so on) . A lot of people make sport in the park. I think this is good.
At the weekend we’ll visit the habour and go a little bit shopping.

Today is the second day of a new week and I think it is like in Berlin.
I go to work and after the work I do a little bit of sport. After this
I cook.
Therefor we have healthy eating 😉


At my work I have a new project. It includes SMTP. 😀
Sadly we don’t have much time. Also we’ll visit ireland and the city
at the weekend. Than my report will be a little bit more spicy.

It’s very sad that we have so less time to visit the country.
