Hello everyone,

at this weekend Eric, Joel, Nick, Tim and me visited the Comic Con in Belfast.
The Comic Con was in the King`s Hall in Belfast and there were a lot of people and we had to wait over an hour to buy our ticket.
Eric, Joel and Nick are very excited but Tim and me found it not very well.
I think that we doesn’t watch enough comic and mangas but it was a expericiene.
The best thing what I found was the car from the movie Back to the Future.

Eric, Joel and Nick want to spend more time at the Comic Con but Tim and me wanted to leave.

Hello everyone,

on Wednesday I added a Hyper-V Cluster to the DPM at work, but it didn’t run at the first try. I had to fix some configurations (firewall, permission), but now they are are added and the replication is in progress and on Monday I have to test it for functioning. But for this I had to create a virtual machine so I can put in the backup, because it’s not recommend in a life enviroment.
In my last article I’ve spoken about the new contract in the cafeteria and they changed the breakfast on Friday, so they canceled the best meal of the week.

This weekend is the Comic Con in Belfast and I will post what happens there on my next article.

Hello everyone,

on Monday Marco and I wanted to go to lunch, but Graham told us, that the contract between the NMNI(my Workplacement) and the catering company has changed. The contract are changing all 5 years. Now we can’t eat something in the cafeteria because all prizes increased and there are no chips, no custom sandwiches and the only remaining meal is a really expensive Daily Special and it tastes only sometimes. I’m really disappointed about that and now I have to bring my food to work.

After work Marco and I bought some burgers from the Chip Company and these burgers are awesome and very cheap, that’s why I can really recommend.them.

 

Hello everyone,

this weekend Toni visited us and we has showed him the capital of nothern ireland and it was very funny.
In the friday evening we wanted to go in a pub which is called Lavaris and is very near to our appartments. We wanted to play pool in the pub but we were to late and couldn’t go in, so we had to go to our apparments and wachted „Burn Notice“ and drunk some beer.
Today Eric cooked for us we had some chicken steaks with potatos and a source cream sauce and it tasted really good.
Now we had reached the half time of the work placement and the time run by very fast and I will enjoy the next 4 weeks.

Hello everyone,

now we finished the short week of work because monday was a bank holiday and most of us had free time.
This week was exhausting for me but it still makes fun since the workmates are very nice.
At Wednesday I started to backup a fileserver to for backing up 400 GB. Until now only 180GB are transfered because the data is transfered over a WAN connecting. The system needs to be shut down so the data needs to be backupped.I started to write a short documentation about my project so my colleagues know what data is outsourced.

And like every friday there are a typical breakfast in the cantine which consits of beans soda, bread potato bread and sausages, it tastes really good and it is very cheap.

today I had a really exciting day at work.
Marco, Graham and I drove to a sub-office and they restore a lot of pictures and other things there so that they survive the next years and more people can see them in the museum.
In this building they store a lot of machines, pictures, statues, models and heads from dead animals and one Windows Server for all(Printserver,DHCP,DNS ….)
It is a very interesting place and Graham gave us a short tour through the building.
On all doors there is a security lock and you can only enter with a card but I thinks that should be okay because the store very old pictures which can not be replaced.
Marco and I had to add new Printer to the Printserver with the correct driver, I installed printers on the users PCs and should replace some XP maschines with Windows 7 maschines.
At lunch Graham drove with us to a Burgershop and this burger are really great but i missed to make a picture.

Hello everyone,

now it started, a long weekend because Monday is a bank holiday but not all companyies have closed on that day. Some people of us have to go to work for example Leo.
Marco and I wanted to travel to home by train yesterday but the train doesnt stop on our train station, so we had to go one trainstation from Cultra to Marino and we arrived very late at home.
On Friday I did a big step to finish my project, I  installed a DPM, SQL-Server and Reporting-Server and configured them correctly(I hope) so on Tuesday I´m going to finish the project.
Yesterday Eric and I watched a lot of the serie Burn Notice it´s like McGyver but 20 years later.
Today we want to go to LIDL and I want to buy some german food if they have this.
In a multinational store they had german bread and I´m really happy.

Hello everyone,

the halfway is nearly taken and I got a project on my own from my workplacement. need to configure a test environment with Windows Server 2012 R2 and install the Data Protection Manager in conjuntion with a SQL Database Server. After finishing the initial setup I have to create a Backup scheme and I have to migrate Windows XP PCs to Windows 7 and also there’s a lot of other work to do.
My supervisor showed me a program which I never heard of before. It’s called HBCD and it’s very useful. It boots into a live Windows XP or Windows 7system and enables you to create an image of a HDD and play it back. It also includes loads of other useful tools and features.
The project is quite difficult, but I’m sure I can manage it.
The other people in my workplacement currently install a PXE-Server for the PCs which will be migrated soon.

 

Hello everyone,

we went yesterday to a market in the city centre, at the market there is a lot of food from many countries of the world and it was very interesting but also very expensive.
We visited a german shop which offered german „Bratwurst“ , I’m so happy about this because the irish food is delicious but not my favorite. So i bought 10 german „Bratwursts“ for a lot of meals.
The german had a tent which looks like a small Munich Beer Festival and there were a lot of people.

The people there looked very over dressed and I think it was a big event in belfast.

Today it was raining the whole day and it is a really depressing wheather but thats not a reason for irish people not to run an marathon.
