At the second day of our trip we went to limerick and visit King John´s castle. From the tower you have a nice view over the city. This day in limerick was a run so the town was full and at the castle a fireworks was prepared.  The last step on Sunday we went to Bundoran. It´s a little village in North West of Ireland and it is famous for surfing. The weather this day was not so good so we were not swim. In the evening we went back to our Apartment’s in Dublin. From 2nd to 4th of May we do a trip through Ireland. At first we visit the tullamore dew brewery. I´m no friend of whiskey but it was interesting to see how it was made and to taste three varieties of tullamore dew. I prefer the original tullamore dew. This whiskey tastes mild. The other two tasted very strong and smoky. It was nice to try it out but I have recognized again whiskey is not my favorite drink. After the tour through the brewery drove to the cliffs of moher. The route was very spectacular. We had meet a herd of cows on the road and drove on routes where 100km/h are the speed limit but if you drive 100 km/h you will die… We had a good driver so we don´t died, fortunately. The cliffs were really beautiful. Have a look on my pictures. In the evening we searched for a Apartment in Ennis to be able to continue our Roadtrip the next day…

The last two days were really successfully I think. I have try to be a boss and it was ok. We have done all given tasks and learn a lot. The Portuguese Trainees saw and learned a lot and us too. We have set up a server for the student’s which include a fileserver and a monitoring system for all computer in the room. We have shown the Portuguese guys the hardware of a computer and explain the main parts. It was a good repetition. After some time you forgot something. We all have clean nearly 20 computer and check all the hardware of them. You don´t know what kind of dirt you can find in a used computer. We have complete all given task this week and I think it is the main thing. Let´s see what happened on weekend.

On Tuesday in our company are two new trainee from Portugal. In addition my boss in Dublin leave us for this week so we had to teach the two newcomer, show them where they can find anything and show them same basic stuff. Our boss has choose a team leader for this week and selected me. It is cool to be a boss of a group but you also have responsibility for the team and you have to assign tasks. I Think I am a god and fair boss but this job can also be ungrateful. The next days will show it.

This Friday we went to the headquarter of Facebook again to do what we do every day by Facebook. This day we have the special task to decode a hard drive password. We have manage it with the hddunlocker. It is a great tool to decode a hard drive password. After work is done we play a few games pool and went to the apartments. This was the first day I feel the rain of Ireland. It was no heavy rain but there was a powerful wind. I had luck, all the other rain this time in Dublin I saw through a windows…

On the weekend I do nothing interesting so see you next week

Wednesday we present our results of the last days and analyze that. In my installation file are the most updates integrated and it should be easy to include the drivers and some other stuff but which will be seen the next days. For this week it is enough to install windows 7 with the most of the updates. On Thursday we clean up some old HP computers for resell. We also check the hardware, run a memory check and put 4Gb of ram in every machine. It was a lot of work.

 

Monday at work we have the task to build a windows 7 install file included all current update. If you install a new Windows 7 system you have at least 150 important updates. To install a couple of pc it is still to cope to download this but when there are ten or more computers you get problems. So we build the ISO file to save the traffic and a lot of time. And in the next time we upgrade this windows 7 installation with extra drivers or other stuff but that is for the future…
This job take a lot of time. Two whole working days we spend on this to build it on different ways, testing which is the best of them and to try it on different hardware. The result is a windows 7 installation which take nearly the same time than a normal installation but within updates. It´s great and very adaptable.

Last Friday we went to the headquarter of Facebook again to erase the hard drives. After work is done we had a tour through the house with an employee of the IT department. It was really nice but I can´t reveal details. Privacy, you understand. In the evening after work my girlfriend and I went to the sea. I don´t know there are ebb and flow so we have the luck and don´t see the water. Also a walk through the mud flat is very great.IMG-20150422-WA0006

Way to work

On Wednesday and Thursday nothing really exciting has happened so I can tell you a little bit of my way to work. I´m housed in Lad Lane Apartments in the south of Dublin, like you see it at the map. I have to go to the industrial in the north of Dublin. So every working day I go a little bit more than 6 km to work and in the evening back. You think it is a long way? I think it is OK. You get used to it. The bus ticket is expensive, roughly 120€ a month. So I walk and safe money 😉
