Sunny Dublin

On Monday I meet Mrs. Neumann and Mr. Bavar in the Knighgtsbridge Bar at the Airlington Hotel. We talked a bit about the City and my job in Dublin and of cause about the weather which is not typical Irish. The days were full of sunshine and a bit too warm in my opinion. I didn’t know that you can put the weather from Germany into your pockets. That’s awesome. The cool thing I noticed is that there are less thunderstorms in Ireland than in Germany. Anyway, at Wednesday Mrs. Neumann and Mr. Bavar wanted to take a look in my apartment. Mrs. Neumann was kind of suprised how modern my apartment is. Wooden floor, huge living room and a modern kitchen that’s what I have here. Mr. Bavar also made a refrigerator check to see what we eat all day. Good that he didn’t saw the freezer. 😉

Good that we have a freezer so I can by some icecream for the next few days. I often visit Met Érieann to look how the weather will be in the next days. More sunshine, yeah! Time to go to a beach again.

Cold finger

Yesterday a few friends and myself went to the National Musuem of Ireland – Archaeology. The admission was free so it was more fun for us to view the jewelry and the old weapons of the vikings. It was pretty warm in the museum and I lost my little group when I went into another wing of the museum. Good to have a mobile phone. All in all a very impressive exhibition.

Outside it was very cold and windy. In the evening I noticed that I might got a little cold. Today I definitly know that it is a cold. Let’s see if I’m fit enough to work tomorrow. Staying the whole day at the apartment is quite boring as I noticed today. I drunk red tea nearly the whole day and my cold won’t get better. Hopefully next week’s weather is getting better.

The work at IMEC

A dizzy day in Dublin today and I was not able to see any ship this morning and evening.

But therefor I repaired and flashed a lot devices. I replaced displays, bluetooth-adapter and flashed some of the devices I repaired the last days. I also flashed Cisco Wireless Access Points. Of cause I tested all units. All working fine, what else? Vincent also told me that I should work there because Jason an myself are a great team. After I was done with all my stuff Jason gave me a huge device to repair. I don’t know how many kilo it has but I guess around 15kg. He told me to replace the display. It wasn’t that easy but I managed to repair it in less than 45 minutes. And it works!

I’ll post a picture on weekend of that monster.

Monday and more

Hi guys,

my first topic today is Monday, the bank holiday, on this day was unfortunately very modest weather, on basis of this have we the complete day watched television (Bones). 🙂 Incidentally, Bones is our daily television program, because Roxi has ca. 4 seasons. The guys, which not like the TV-series, have bad luck. For all people who not know what or who Bones is: click here.

Yesterday, we had a funny evening, because Timo did made funny things with our pictures. For example he has replaced our heads with his own head. It looks very funny. 😆
What Timo can create with Photoshop, is very cool. My respect!

Best regards from Belfast

The Weather

Today, the 7 May, is a special day. It’s the Early May Bank Holiday. Northern Ireland has many Bank Holidays like the Spring Bank Holiday or the Summer Bank Holiday. At these days the banks, I think that is the reason for the name, and other businesses are closed. So today is day off and we have the opportunity to use this free day.
But there is a little problem: the weather. OK, Belfast and the whole isle of Ireland is famous for his rainy weather. But the last days we have been lucky because we had only light showers and the sun made sure that it felt not so cold. Here in Ireland you must be ready for changes in the weather. Sometimes it rained very hard and in the next minute the sun comes. And the next days get not be better. Finally we decided to stay at home, because not all businesses have open.

First week done

Hello there,

first we (Josephine and myself) wanted to visit the sunday market at Dun Laoghaire (spelled like „Dunn Lierii“) but the weather wasn’t that nice to go out. Dun Laoghaire is a very nice area to go out. Good for myself that I work there. It’s kinda like Howth but there are more things to visit like the Bloomefield Centre, a huge shopping center with an also huge Tesco inside. There is also a nice shopping street near that center, the Lower George Street. When I’m at work I often visit that street to buy my lunch.

The work at IMEC Technologies makes a lot of fun. At the moment I repair handhelds from Motorola and nice portable barcode- and labelprinters. Jason White is my contact person there and he told me that he already had 3 german students there. I also noticed that he called me a „pro“ which means profi while he was at his phone and talked to someone else. He is a very nice person and when I had a question he explained me what to do and how to do it.

Vincent (I hope I spelled his name correctly) who also works at IMEC Technologies is also a nice guy and I already had much fun with him. I guess he tries to learn a bit german because he often wants me to translate some things into german. In my opinion is that a good training for myself to make my English more perfect.

That was the first week at Dublin and I hope that the weather gets better.
