Today was a day free of work, because tomorrow is the first of May and many employees do no need to come to the office. Only the more important ones do. We picked this day to be the day we go to the amusement park located in Beijing called Happy Valley. We anticipated, that today the park would be less crowded. We were right only to a certain extend.
Happy Valley is located south-east of Beijing. Our Chinese version of google maps called Baidu Maps predicted, that a trip to Happy Valley by public transportation would take 1 1/2h, because of an uncompleted subway traffic network. The right choice was to take a taxi and that we did. 6€ and 20min later we arrived at the place of fun and adrenaline.
The park covers an area of over 560,000 square meters and has over 50 attractions. Three of them are crazy roller coasters and those we wanted to try first thing.
- : A roller coaster with a powered launch. After leaving the station the train accelerates from 0 to 134 km/h, going upwards for a 60m drop downwards. An amazing rush of adrenaline.
- Crystal Wing: You enter the train sitting down, but before the ride starts your seats tilt over and you lie belly down to the floor, like superman. The riding position sure was something new to experience and overall it was a good ride. Until the moment, where you reach this point:
- Golden Wings: A coaster where you sit upright but have you feet dangling loose underneath you. Its a very smooth ride with a lot of loops, twists and turns. Amazing 😛
And as an extra treat, the Apollo Wheel. Spinning, swinging fear machine.
Overall it was a great day, even though the waiting queues were between 30min and 2 hours. The park is in a good shape. Nice and clean. A lot of green, flowers, trees, birds, fish, everywhere. During our stay at the park we made a new friends, distributed a lot of high-five to total strangers and returned smiles and winks at a few dozen of Chinese girls who frequently gawked at us.
Now we will enjoy a new episode of our beloved tv-series called „Game Of Thrones“ and
enjoy the night.
