Just a couple of days to go…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

On Friday we were going out and it was again a lot of fun. On Saturday we watched the Champions League Final and after that, some colleagues and I tried to party again but we were not fit enough after we partied hard on Friday.

The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet and thankfully I got two free days (Wednesday and Thursday) to prepare for my departure to Germany.

At work, I am preparing all the Documents I need and finishing all the projects I was working on.

It was a nice and interesting time here in Dublin but I will be glad to be back in Germany.

If there won’t happen any interesting things in the last couple of days, I won’t write any further Blog post. So you won’t see anything new from me.

Regards,

Markus

One of the last posts…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

This week was a pretty quiet week like the last few, so this will be a short blog post.

At work we are trying to set up a socket server, which could be difficult without any possibility to use a Command Line Interface on the current webserver. So we have to take a look at other possibilities.

We are also making a lot of debugging and testing with the micro controller we are using in the parking machine.

As for it is Friday, I am going out to have some drinks and I’m curious at what time I will be at home.

There will also be the Champions League Final tomorrow and at some Pubs there are already Flags of Dortmund and Munich outside on the walls.

We try to watch the match and have some fun.

That’s all for now. I think you can expect the next blog post in a couple of days.

See you soon.

Beer, Party and ABBA???

Hi folks, it’s me again.

As I feared, we are not making any real tests with the machine, just some basic testing of the code for the microcontroller. But we try to finish it as soon as possible. As we are making our tests, I am supposed to set up a PHP based Socket Server which should receive the data from the modem we are using inside of the machine.

On Friday we had an appointment with Margaret and Mr Döbler, one of our teachers in Germany. We talked more than one hour with him about nearly everything we are doing here in Ireland and about our apartments and workplaces.

After the meeting with Mr Döbler, some colleagues and I were making a Pub tour. On our way through the Pubs we saw this guy who was painting on some kind of telephone junction box.

ABBA. Seems legit.

Asking a colleague what band this should be (and giving hints like “the guys are called John, Paul, George and Ringo and they had a kind of successful Band in the 60s”), he guessed that this could be… “ABBA”.

After I almost peed myself, I told him that this is a picture of the Beatles. and then he realized why I was laughing that hard and started laughing.

At around 11 p.m. we were leaving the apartment and went to a nice area with some cool clubs. After we couldn’t enter the first club (one of us was under 21) we went to the next club [Copper Face Jacks] and we all had a good time.

After about 30 minutes I lost Nick (one of my colleagues) but we were able to find each other. But after about one or two hours later, I lost him again and this time we were not able to find each other again.

At around 3:30 a.m. I was trying to leave the club. The Club was so full that it was kind of a wonder that I found the exit. About half an hour later I arrived at our apartment without problems but completely drunk.

This was a really good night and I finally went out and was having some fun.

That’s all for today folks.

See you soon.

A quiet week…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

It’s been awhile since my last post but again there is nothing really new to tell.

During the weekend I was a little bit ill so I wasn’t going out or doing some sightseeing.

At work we are trying to finish our code and create the documentary for it and create some flow charts for the further testing which will start during this week (at least I hope so).

As Alex mentioned, the beds are killing us.
Even after my massage I am already feeling some tensions in my back and neck again.

But we are almost finished here and I look forward to see my own bed in Germany.

That’s all for today.

See you soon.

Still quiet…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

Nothing really new to tell about my time here in Ireland.

At work we are still making tests with the parking machine and are fine-tuning our webpage.

On Tuesday I was visiting a physiotherapist for a massage to get the tension out of my back. Also I hoped that the numbness of my fingers would go away. It didn’t but it got better.

Yesterday I tried to cook something and, for those who now my cooking skills, it was a success.

It tasted awesome and I am kind of proud of it and myself.

I think that’s all for today.

See you soon.

A quiet week…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

The time since my last post was pretty quiet. Last week, Mr Bavar and Mrs Neumann visited our apartment and as Alexander already said, we proudly presented our, not so silent, water heater and the rest of our “spectacular” apartment.

Like Alexander, I think that three blog posts per week are a little bit too much and two should be more than enough because during the working week you don’t have the time to do something else than buy some food, eat and rest for the next work day.

There where nothing really new at work. We are continuously working on our Webpage and are making tests with the parking machine and the self-made electronic circuits.

The weekend itself was pretty quiet too. I tried to relax as much as possible.
But unfortunately I was able to hit a nerve in my arm (that’s what the doctor said) because since Monday morning I feel a small numbness in my fingers on the right hand. But it should go away during the next weeks. I definitively hope that it will go away because it’s kind of scary.

That’s all for today.

See you soon.

A German Final…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

Today we watched the match between Bayern München and Barcelona. Man, what a match.

First I thought that the Trainer should have changed Arjen Robben but later I was glad the he didn’t.

The match was so intense and we all had a lot of fun.

A German Champions League Final, awesome.

At this point I want to greet someone special in Bavaria and say congratulation. 🙂

At work we are finalizing our web application and are now trying to implement more and more JavaScript, JQuery and Ajax to beautify the Webpage.

Also I am learning more OOP concepts for PHP and JavaScript to make our code easier to maintain.

That’s all for today.

See you soon.

Again nothing really new…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

There was again nothing really new since my last post.

The Weekend was kind of quiet and I focused myself on learning some more PHP and rest.

Again I wonder about the weather. In one second there is the sun and it’s warm and beautiful. In the next second it is raining like it hadn’t rained for the last 3 months and a couple of seconds later it is like if nothing happened and the sun shines again.

At work we are trying to bring our web project to an end. We implemented JavaScript, JQuery and Ajax and are now looking for some PHP tools to debug and test everything.

While we were doing this, we also made some more tests with the machine and advanced in building our power circuits for the devices.

I’ll make my next post before the weekend. Until then I hope that you are enjoying what you’ve read so far.

See you soon.

Nothing really new…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

Nothing really new happened since the last post.

At work, I was able to advance in my PHP logic and finally was able to implement the correct SQL syntax so that we can now correctly insert, select, update or delete something in our database.

Yesterday we found out that we can see the match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

A TV Channel here in Dublin was broadcasting the match and we were gathering around our small TV and were enjoying the match.

After the match, we were all euphoric and now we want to see a German final.

Well, I think that’s all for today.

At the weekend we plan to go out again but this time we want to go in pub or in a club.

See you soon.

First night out…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

Yesterday, we went to a laundrette to have our laundry cleaned. That was necessary because of the bad laundry machines in our apartments.

Later, Alex and I went out to take a look at Dublin at night.

We saw a lot of people on their way to get in a club or a pub so we decided to go to our colleagues Erik and Stefan.

After we arrived, we took a look at their apartment and compared it to our apartment. Their apartment has the advantage that their hot water heater is not in one of the bedrooms so everyone can sleep well.

After the comparison we settled down and had a couple of drinks.

The evening was pretty funny and we talked a lot about Ireland itself and about our working places and what we are doing right now at work.

I am sorry to tell that there are no pictures of our journey because I forgot my camera.

That’s all for today. The next Blog entry will come in a couple of days I think.

See you soon.
