Working after Work

Heyho,

you may ask what I am doing the whole week. Yeah, what shall I say. Usually I am working and when my work-hours are over I stay there for some more hours. I don´t know what to do at „home“ and to visit some things in Dublin I am to exhausted. So I am the first one from the IT who arrives and the last one from the IT who leaves. I usually work 10 or 11 hours. No, it´s not illegal. Everything what I am doing I am doing on my own. They are telling me „Lars, go home!“. But I can´t. I don´t want to. There is enough work to do.

A colleague of mine told me, that all the users are respecting me. Sometimes they only write me, if they have a problem and not my boss. Thats very funny. 😀 Maybe not for him, but for me. 🙂

Small Update: Our Wifi seems to work now! Let´s see for how long.

And Alex, if you read this: Haha, fail. 😀 I have every password, and I can access everything without asking someone. It´s very nice to be able to do whatever I want. 😀

At Saturday some colleagues and I want to go to Giants Causeway. This will be fun, but maybe I write one more entry tomorrow.

weekend retrospective

Hey,

as you can imagine my weekend was boring because I was ill and had to stay in the apartment.

It all started last week when I got a sore throat and then I got a cough!

Therefore I can not write that much today because I’ve done nothing but sleeping, watching movies and eating!

I can tell you that we have made boulettes with a cheese filling. That was awesome!

Sorry for that short post but I didn’t do more this weekend!

I will write more about this week in the following days!

#17 – Celtic tour

Hello everyone,

As said before I’ll tell you a little bit about the Celtic tour we did on Sunday. This tour was very nice even though the weather was not as well. We actually got soaked at one point but later more of that.

So our tour guide was very nice and funny and incredibly well prepared. He started to talk about the sights we were going to see 10 minutes before we arrived there, so we could then have just a look around without having to stand there in a circle and listen to him. Also he was very considerate about the rain and he was very impressed as the complete group did not seem to care about getting wet. He told a few jokes and a bit about the Irish history itself, what was very interesting.

For the sights I actually forgot most of the names but I remember a very impressive tomb where we had to climb up a hill to reach it. It started to rain while we were up there and it got very windy on our way down, which got us very wet at this place. The tomb itself was quite interesting but smaller than I first imagined. But he told us that there have been many of these in ancient times, which would have been a very incredible view.

Also very interesting was the big Castle we visited. A few parts of the walls were missing and we couldn’t have a look in the castle itself (there are tours for that also) but it was nice enough.

Other than that we visited abbeys and graveyards with gigantic Celtic crosses.

All in all it was a tour very much worth it and I recommend everyone to do both tours i now brought to you!

This time I am keeping the pictures to myself just to annoy everyone :D.

I need a blog titel…

Dear reader,

it’s Thursday and I almost finishing my tasks from Monday. The time where I have nothing to do is really rare so it’s okay for me to do nothing. Sometimes it is hard because I did not sleep that good and want to sleep for a few hours but that’s normal. It’s a little bit frustrating that I can’t do any task by myself. I am not allowed to work some jobs from the ticket system, I have not a single password for VM’s or normal PC’s and that sucks as hell. I need to ask every time if I want to do anything normal. Even if I get a simple task I need to ask again and again because I have no passwords or something like that and all the people I could ask are very busy. That’s really strange because especially in my last project I’ve done a lot of work by my self. Right now I save some mail profiles and setting up some computers (passwords required).

The first thing I will do when I am back in Germany is turning on my PC, starting a Video (without stopping every 5 seconds in 124p quality) and take a long sleep. Yes, you are getting very gratefull…

That’s it for today… I need 19 posts at the end of the week so we will read tomorrow.

Cheers,

Alex

A quiet week… :D ( no pun intended)

Hi guy’s

how are you?

Everything is fine here in Dublin. The weather is not like a typical May in Germany, but it’s ok.
Monday was a normal work day. I fixed some program issues in my web API and I showed Richard my progress.
He and I were happy that the web API is running. After some emails he gave me a new task. I should change the UTC time, which was set as a Unix timestamp, into the regular time.
At home I didn’t do much. I was shopping at Lidl and cooked. Also I cleaned the bathroom.

Yesterday I changed the timestamp and showed Richard the result. Also we talked about the next step. I thought that I can now save the data into the database, but he would like me to do other things. So I now have a new task. I should put things into order and so on. I can say, that I programmed here in Dublin the whole time.

At home I cooked and relaxed the evening.

See you later

#16 – Cliffs of Moher

Hihi there,

As you already may know I have been to the famous cliffs of Moher on Saturday. The trip there was quite exhausting as we all had way too less sleep and I was also not able to sleep to well in the bus. Our tour guide was talking a bit strangely as he repeated himself over and over again when he spoke about a certain topic.

Other than that the company that offered the tour was well prepared and had a decent amount of stops on our way to the cliffs and home.

The Cliffs themselves were very impressive and beautiful. We had a hell of a strong wind there. At one point I had to hold onto a fence to make sure I would not be blown away.

We stopped at a pub for lunch which was quite expensive. They are utmost reliant on the tourist tours as they won’t have any other customers whatsoever, which is a strange concept from my point of view.

On our way home we stopped at quite beautiful landscapes (a lot of bright grey rocks just scattered in the fields) just at the cliffs.

I will not provide any pictures here as Erik did that already and it would be a waste of disk space to add them again. He picked the ones I would have picked.

That’s it already from me for now, next blog will cover for the Celtic tour we did on Sunday. Until then!

Start into Week #6

Hello Everyone,

it’s the start into the sixth week and only two and a half weeks are left, to be honest I’m looking forward to be back in Germany especially to sleep alone in my own room and in my own bed.

Well on Monday I started testing Hardware that was lying  around the office with the new benchtable and as it turned out most of the hardware was broken.

On Tuesday I started working on the new thin clients we got for testing purposes and I had to install the newest firmware which was a pain in the ass, because it is not possible to install the newest firmware over USB. No that would have too easy you have to do it over a special Webshare or FTP. After trying it over a web share we set up a makeshift FPT server and hey that worked, but you couldn’t just install the newest firmware, no you had to install the firmware in the order it was released, e.g. if the newest firmware is 1.3.3 and the installed firmware is 1.1.4 you have install all version between these two in the order they where released before installing the newest.

But as it was Tuesday, which meant it was crazy Tuesday at the cinemas, I went to watch the new Star Trek movie together with Robert. And the movie was good and I can say with confidence that if J.J Abrahams does as well with Star Wars as he does with Star Trek there will be awesome movies ahead 😀

That’s it for now.

Yours sincerely,

Tobias

A quiet week…

Hi folks, it’s me again.

It’s been awhile since my last post but again there is nothing really new to tell.

During the weekend I was a little bit ill so I wasn’t going out or doing some sightseeing.

At work we are trying to finish our code and create the documentary for it and create some flow charts for the further testing which will start during this week (at least I hope so).

As Alex mentioned, the beds are killing us.
Even after my massage I am already feeling some tensions in my back and neck again.

But we are almost finished here and I look forward to see my own bed in Germany.

That’s all for today.

See you soon.

Markus

Bad bed…

Dear reader,

on Friday we have the possibility to meet our teacher Mr. Doebler from the OSZ. Nobody really knows him or had some hours with him except for 2 short lessons in 2011. That makes no sense in my opinion but we will try to talk with him.
I am not really sure if I get some free time for this from my boss Tom. And I’m not even sure if I want free time for the opportunity to meet a teacher… 😀 Slowly I have some effects from my bed. I have massive  headaches on the „morning“ and my back hurts as well and that’s what I said at the beginning. Maybe the apartment is „good“ enough for one week but in my case I have massive problems after some more weeks and that’s not even funny. Hopefully it’s getting better when I am back at home.

Yes, we fill another day.

Cheers,

Alex

A very nice weekend

Hi guys,

this weekend was very amazing. We had do two tours. On Saturday we visited the Cliff of Moher and on Sunday we did the Celtic Tour.

On Saturday the night was very short. At 5 a.m. we woke up and went to the meeting point, where the tour started. The weather wasn’t good at the beginning, because it was rainy. Our first stop was a very little castle. It was nice. After 3 hours and many stops we arrived at the cliffs.

Stefan and I explored the left side of the cliffs first. So we lost the other guys :D. The view was very stunning. I would want to jump into the water to surf.

When we were at the cliffs the weather was very nice. It was sunny and windy. After a short walk, we searched for the other guys at the right side of the cliffs. On the way to them, Stefan and I did an involuntarily stop, because the wind was so strong that Stefan had to hold on a fence and I perched on a stair. So luckily we were not blown away, or down the cliffs.

After the cliffs we had lunch in a very little restaurant. The prices were high and the portion of food was very small. After we finished lunch went home, with a few stops at the coast. I like the coast and so I made many photos.

At home we relaxed and went to bed earlier as usual.

At Sunday the weather was very bad, because it rained a lot. We visited many typical Irish and Celtic places. At first we visited the Hill of Tara. Although it rained a lot for the most time, we stayed quite long.

Our tour guide was quite impressed. His name was Mark and he was very funny. I understood him very well, because he spoke slow and in a well English.
At the tour we got a lot of information about the Irish and Celtic history and the Irish culture. It was really a beautiful and nice day.

At home I eat a pizza and went to bed early, because I was very exhausted.

You see it was a stuffed but very nice weekend. Also see you later guys
