What I’m doing …

Hi it’s me again…

This time I don’t want to say something about my free time her in Belfast but rather about my work and what I have to do.

Like I said in the previous article written be me or written by Marcel or Lukas, we are working for Capita – Managed IT Solution based in Newtownabbey in the north of Belfast. Capita is really big company headquartered in London and has many contracts on which different departments working on. In my case it’s the department for education services especially the Capita Education Resourcing (See here at the bottom). In the first two weeks I’m tied up with listening, because in my department it’s important to learn before I can work on my own. I need to know which processes proceed, how to overview and monitor switches, AcessPoints, Routers and other network resources. It’s really exciting because they do many things other than we would do. There are a lot of servers which manage nodes (e.g. switches) where you type in a command and then you choose on which switch this should be executed or some scripts which automatically create network interface configurations or complete configuration for switches.

See here monitoring of network nodes:

Or here monitoring of AcessPoints and WLAN Controllers

This week I had to work in Chanalyzer and insider, two tools for wireless network analysing

And if there are some problems we could look at some traffic paths to see how much bandwidth used by every of about 1900 schools in Northern Ireland and if it’s necessary to upgrade or so…

See ya 🙂
