All of us stayed in the living room because the rooms were muggy of the heat and no wind can’t cross. I slept only 2 hours and 45 minutes on the ground, which was comfortable. I used to sleep on the mattress consists of bamboo in Vietnam. What a great start to the last day of our work experience. Yes, this is the last day and also our departure from Belfast/Northern Ireland. This day was the last but one working day of my work experience in Belfast. I finished all my task, which were unfinished. Today flew by that fast.
In the evening we went for an Irish dinner at ‚Morning Star‘, a recommendation of Tim :D. The atmosphere for our last evening together in Belfast was great. Unfortunately, the paying process was problematic. At first, they told us to separate the receipt by ourselves and go and pay separately. Then at the cashier, they said us it isn’t possible to settle up one by one. In the end, we had to borrow money from Tim, who paid by card. When Tim was settling up, another staff told him that we could pay individually. It was such a mess! „“Nothing lasts forever. Forever is a lie. Day by day I am getting more and more used to living here in Belfast, and my everyday life is getting more structured again. Since I discovered an offer at Tesco called „Meal Deal“, which includes a main course (for example, Sandwiches or Noodle salad), a drink and a dessert for £3. Yesterday was a nice Friday. In the morning, we had a constructive conversation at work resulting in a few new tasks for Robert and me, for example writing calculation functions in JavaScript for ServiceClarity and some IT related task like creating a hardware inventory.
Today I continued to work on the marketing of Amazon products. However, I did not much work because I had to leave earlier due to the Interneurope meeting. Since almost everyone was very reserved at the meeting, this was already finished after a short time.
After that we decided to have dinner together. We split into small groups to prepare for the evening. Giang, Jenny, Son and Tim went shopping, Robert and Guiliano got card games and Phi and I went home and cleaned up. We decided to do summer roles. After spending several hours preparing we could finally eat. I have never eaten summer rolls before, but they were delicious!
After dinner we first played the card game „Der Große Dalmuti“ and then until late in the evening UNO and “Tabletop Simulator”.
Even before the day really started, I was pretty excited about what will happen to me today. I got up shortly before 8:00 am. I took a shower and ate a snack for breakfast. Full of energy, I want to go now, but it was only 8.30 … So I had plenty of time before I could go. After a quick thought about what I should do now, I decided to get my laptop out and read some blog posts from the others. My „journey“ started on the 1st of April in 2018. But first, let me introduce myself.
I am Huong Giang Doan Thi, 21 years old. I am an apprentice as an Information Technology Specialist – specialising in System Integration. Part of my apprenticeship is foreign work experience. Because of that, I will stay in Belfast, the UK for the next two months. Therefore I am going to share my experiences on this blog. I am quite curious about this journey. To live and work in a foreign country for a long time was one of my wishes, which I have had since I was in middle school.
