Understanding and speaking Belfastian

I was really cocky the first few weeks. I thought I understood the Belfastians very well. I understood Sean, Josh and the most of the other people in the bureau very clearly. But then, this one Clarity guy appeared and my ego was put to rest. I did not grasp any of what this man said at all. Gladly, he talked to Sean and/or Stuart (boss of DATACTICS) most of the time. I can still see myself: standing in close proximity, smiling, nodding and acting like I’m understanding every word. I faked it well. „Understanding and speaking Belfastian“ weiterlesen

More rain than anywhere else

So, today is Friday. Overall a day to be happy about, because the weekend just started. And still it’s something that keeps bothering me. Oh, I know, it’s the RAIN!!

I don’t think I will ever get used to the amounts of rain here. But well, gonna have to live with it. We’re still not doing much, besides the usual unlocking of accounts or setting up a PC.

But there was one thing that made this day stand out in comparison to the others. On last Saturdays hill-climb I got to know a blacksmith who works in the museum. I had a little talk with him back then and told him that I also wanted to try out forging. So he told me to drop by on his forge the other day. And that was what we did in the later afternoon.

We only had a map of our area and our instincts to guide us. What else do I need to say… we went straight across the areas not knowing where we were.

But after about 15 minutes we found our destination, just about to see that it was closed just recently … sigh

Well, nothing to do about that, but at least I now know where it is, maybe I will give it another try next week.

A short update

Well, I am thinking hard about what to write, but there is not much to write about. The last few days were very quiet and we hadn’t much to do. I wish I could write some more interesting things, but sadly it’s rather silent here.

But the good thing is we planned a tour to Dublin in the coming days, so that will definitely be another adventure.I’m really looking forward to it.

In the meantime we are still testing our 3d printer to its limits. Also, we plan on moving it to our office, because the way it is now, the airflow of the open door could let the print cool down to fast creating a wrapped up surface and damaging the whole print.

So yeah, that’s basically it. Let’s see what the future has to offer.

Fourth Week Of Work at Locate a Locum

This blogpost is dedicated to the actual reason of this whole internship – my work at Locate a Locum. Actually it’s also the best part of the internship so far. I love everything about it. The team, the very modern and well-tended co-working space, the atmosphere and my work itself – exactly what I wished for this internship.

The second half kick-off

Has it already been four weeks? It doesn’t feel like it. I feel like it’s the second week… There is room for different interpretations for this statement. The first one is the optimistic one. If time goes by fast, it means you are enjoying yourself. The second one is rational. If this feels like a second week, what have I actually accomplished the last two weeks? The third interpretation can be made based on my prior articles on this site. If I have no sense of spatial orientation, I could also have no temporal orientation. That’s fair, but I would tend to believe the first two theses. „The second half kick-off“ weiterlesen
