Today I spent my time with my mom. We first met at the St. Georges Market to eat some breakfast and thought about what we could do today. My mom asked if we wanted to go to a old jail that is now working as a museum, and since that sounded like a good idea we headed towards the western part of Belfast to visit the Crumlin Road Gaol. The prison was built in the late 1840’s, active until 1996 and is now a visitors attraction.
I won’t go to much into details because it is a very interesting place and everyone who is in Belfast should take the time to go on a guided Tour around the jail.
The jail has very much to tell you and, at some points, even gets very dark. It is shocking what you learn about it, especially towards child prisoners and executions
The jail was and is still connected to a courtyard that is closed nowadays but will be rebuild in the near future. I’ll look happy forward to see what will happen there.
I know this is a rather short article, but since I won’t spoil you as for the history of this place I need to keep my mouth and my fingers shut.
In the evening we again had chicken drumsticks, but this time we were at Dominik’s and my place. After we stuffed ourselves with chicken again we turned on the Laptop and watched old child series from when we were small. It was somewhat strange but also very funny since we didn’t realize how long it was ago when we watched the series.
