Exploring Dublin for one day

Day 28 28.04.2018 Saturday

On Saturday we went to Dublin by bus. Our journey began at 9:00 in front of the “Europa hotel” in Belfast at the main bus station. It took us about 2 hours to get to Dublin. We stayed till 9 o’clock in the evening so we’ve planned a lot of things to do but we couldn’t decide which ones we wanted to do first.

In Dublin, the first thing I’ve noticed was, that the way it was built reminded me of a part of Berlin, which looks very similar. The second thing was that the traffic lights play a very amusing sound when they turn green for pedestrians. The sound remembered me a little bit of a song which I was listening to the day before. It started with a little *peeew* followed by little rhythmic beats. It’s difficult to describe.

We visited the science gallery where you can watch some scientific illusions. For example, a picture made out of instant cheese. Then we went to The National Museum of Ireland – Natural History (Dublin) where you can see some stuffed animals, the St Patrick’s Cathedral (for which you had to pay an admission fee of 10 pounds), grassland in front of the cathedral (which was very beautiful) and the Dublin Trinity College (where you can see the book of Kells). We also went to the comic store “sub-city” at St. George’s Market (Dublin) where we wanted to visit the anime store “betterlife”. I didn’t buy anything because there was nothing I wanted. Instead, I went to an Irish souvenir shop to buy a t-shirt. Phi and I bought the same shirt to get a discount. I’ve also bought 2 jumpers which said “Ireland” in a very nice design. Unfortunately, they only accepted euros instead of pounds. In Dublin, some shops will accept both but make sure to have some euros with you (just in case).

If you want to visit the “Dublin Guinness Factory” you should bring some money (more than 10 pounds) as well as some time with you because you have to wait quite a long time (we needed 30 minutes to get inside).

At the end of the day, we visited “Nandos” and ate some chicken. At “Nandos” you always get to chose how hot/spicy you want your food to be. It was very delicious.
