Day 28 28.04.2018 Saturday

 

 

On Saturday we went to Dublin by bus. Our journey began at 9:00 in front of the “Europa hotel” in Belfast at the main bus station. It took us about 2 hours to get to Dublin. We stayed till 9 o’clock in the evening so we’ve planned a lot of things to do but we couldn’t decide which ones we wanted to do first.

In Dublin, the first thing I’ve noticed was, that the way it was built reminded me of a part of Berlin, which looks very similar. The second thing was that the traffic lights play a very amusing sound when they turn green for pedestrians. The sound remembered me a little bit of a song which I was listening to the day before. Day 27 27.04.2018 Friday

 

On Friday my department manager took me to Agnew Van Centre / Agnew Volkswagen to configure the router for the cctv problem. If you don’t know what CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) is: CCTV is the term used when cameras are used to capture images. These images are relayed back to a CCTV control room where they are monitored and recorded. This is normal in Northern Ireland because you find them everywhere so every company has to install them (for what I know). Therefore we had to make sure that the CCTV was working properly. Day 25&26 25 – 26.04.2018 Wednesday&Thursday

 

 

On Wednesday I refined my PowerShell script because I didn’t like the format of the file size. It displayed everything in KB and if the file size was huge the number was very huge too so that it was difficult to read if you were trying to analyze the data. Today my department manager gave me the new preparations for the second project. Day 23&24 23-24.04.2018 Monday&Tuesday

 

 

On Monday I checked my powershell script again to improve it. During the morning we defined new dhcp network scopes because we were going to install some new network components for the first project today. So we had to redesign the network of an already existing branch. I also verified the configs for the new components to make sure that the installation was going to be fluently as much as possible. Day 22 22.04.2018 Sunday

 

At sunday the 22nd of April we visited the Ulster National Museum. The Ulster Museum tells the unique human story of this part of Ireland and their collections have a variety of topics like art, history and natural science. The admission to the museum is free but you can donate money to support them. I think that a visit at the museum is definitely worth 5 – 10 pounds because you can see a lot of cool stuff in there. Day 20 20.04.2018 Friday

 

I don’t know if this is normal in Ireland, but our radiator was still on all night long. The weather yesterday/today was already so hot that I couldn’t wear more than a shirt and shorts. And it was still to hot for me. Because of the weather and the radiator (which we can’t switch off) it was like a sauna in my room this night. I don’t understand why we can’t adjust the timer or the radiator ourselves.I woke up very often this night because of the heat.

Day 18&19 18 – 19.04.2018 Wednesday&Thursday

 

Today I drew some network components in visio, because my supervisor wants to have a visuell plan from the rack first before he wants to buy the stuff. This way we can figure out if there is enough space for all the equipment. Also it is a good opportunity for me to document everything first. Afterwards I finished the powershell script that Paul gave me. This script is used to run in the server to clean up and delete all files which were not used for a long time (for example 100 days). Day 16&17 16-17.04.2018 Monday&Tuesday

 

Today my department manager arrived later at work because at Sunday there was a network incident. Some USP didn’t work right. So some services shut down because they don’t had enough power. He was very busy till 13:00 p.m. I used the time to do some research about the cisco asa firewall configuration with which he provided me. After 1 hour I realised that he will arrive a little bit later then I thought. So I asked one of the associates to call and ask him, if I could upgrade more cisco asa (firewalls), because it would better to do get more work done in advance. It would be beneficial to finish the firewalls as soon as possible, so that we could deploy them faster, in case we need them because of an incident or something. „Movie night at movie house“ weiterlesen
