Arriving at DocuLand there were already three employees working on the ground floor. We began checking the server state. Our chief arrived and had a conversation with us. He was interested in what we had reached so far. However, he emphasized what point he strives the company to for at long last. That is, a a backup solution with three to four different storages should be there. Loss of data – and only a few – can cause a very expensive penalty. Furthermore, it should be possible to take a snapshot remotely in case of e.g. a terroristic attack that you can’t go locally any more. DocuLand needs to be able to move to somewhere else nevertheless and while being able to start a new server with the same data without bigger circumstances than buying new hardware.
After bringing away some parcels and letters to the post office I discovered a pizza place very close to our office where I went to. As it felt nicely at the place its pizza was also good. The only thing I could criticize was the chili oil bottle of which, which the spill extension was untight. So it was quite challenging to spill oil to the desired points.
In the afternoon, we had a meeting with our IT related contact Rob and chief Suat. It was announced some cake for the time. The cake seem to have become different kinds of doughnuts. We presented a timeline which we had created as a schedule of the latter part of this and the next two weeks. In addition, we mentioned some ideas.
We listened to Suat and Rob for their imaginations and expectations: We can already put a few computers into the domain. The pc at the reception shall have a separate network drive which shall be shared with the other pcs. Besides, our task is to create a policy which lets certain folders disappear. For example music is not wished for the employees to hear from the workstations. Also filmes are not allowed and according to Suat the UK has a law which allows to let play films or tv only with expensive contracts at the same time.
On my way home I went to Covent Garden since it is a nice place and I aimed to visit an outdoor shop. In between, I saw a nice cafe. I bought a scone and a falafel wrap. The wrap, however, turned out to be with chicken instead of falafel.
At the outdoor shop I wanted to get myself an overview whether there might be some equipment still missing for my big hiking trip in summer. Suddenly, I was quite astonished: On the other side of the shop there was a window of glass. But behind there wasn’t the street. Instead there was an Ice climbing rock in a room reaching to both floors of the shop.
Back home I had a little talk with and spaghetti pomodoro for dinner. A call with my father to congratulate to his birthday and have a little conversation ended the day.
