Boardgaming and Geeking NI

After the great experience with the Belfast Friendship Club last week, I tried another social meeting that you can find here. It’s a meeting about every game you can play on a table, and most importantly, all digital games are banned that night. It was completely by chance that other Germans were there and we were asked if we were playing a round of a game created by one of the regulars.

8th May → 8th June

Today I took a look at the calendar and I realized that we will depart in one month. Let’s see what I can do in the next weekends.
So far, my day was normal, like all the other days. I got access to a new platform which consists on signing documents online. Now my task is to use the developer API and create a program which will fetch all the filled forms from the users. When I requested the API key, I had to wait some hours.

The National Museum of Computing

Last Sunday I started off my day by visiting the National Museum of Computing, located in Bletchley Park. We got to see old working computer systems, including a rebuilt computer called Colossus Mark 2.

Colossus was a set of computers developed by British codebreakers during the second World War to help in the cryptoanalysis of the Lorenz cipher, which I discussed in my last Blog.

I got to see the giant disk of an old hard drive that could store 4 Megabytes on each side. Also in the museum were replicas of the „Bombe“ (also discussed in my last blog). All in all I had a great time seeing the exhibition of old computer artifacts and would recommend a visit for anyone.
